So I was talking to a friend today and the topic of my excel spreadsheet came up. My friend was really shocked and began to tell me how abnormal it is. To me it seems pretty logical and helps me plan and justify my purchases. I have an excel spread sheet that lists each bag I have purchased, the price I paid for it, the RRP, the savings I made, the colour, type and then I update it each time I use the bag so that it works out my cost per wear. It shows me that I make use out of my bags and then if I'm not, I can choose to sell it and purchase something else that I will make use of. Please be honest, is it really crazy of me? I like to know what I have and this is my way of keeping it organised. XImageUploadedByPurseForum1419426040.000702.jpg

That is so timely for me that you'd bring this up because I began a spreadsheet yesterday for the same purpose. I am going to add columns to include cost per wear now, thanks to you!

I think it is a great idea. It has already helped me prioritize which bags are most important to me by either how much I wear it or what sentimental value it holds. I realized that I could get rid of 2/3rds or 3/4ths of my bag and not really miss a beat.

Thank you. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has done something similar. She really made me doubt myself and whether I was being a little excessive. X

I think this is great! I currently have a spreadsheet of bags that I don't even own (yet)! It helps me think about what I'm really interested in getting, rather than impulsively buying.

Maybe I'll start another one to keep track of bags I already own.

You're not alone! I have a detailed spreadsheet that looks just like yours and my friends and family think that it's abnormal, too. I just ignore them. LOL. It works for me. I even added tabs so that I can sort by color, brand, and type. Keep up the good work, I say! Hugs.

I had started a spreadsheet years ago and kept track of all my bags, cost and if I sold, selling price. But then as that total cost kept going up I didn't want to see it any longer so I stopped doing it. I'd rather be in denial! :D I never calculated the cost per wear however. It's a good way though to justify your bags and interesting to see at the end of the year which bags got the most wear.

I wouldn't do it like that, but I've been planning to do a spread sheet for my bags AND my collectibles. Helps in the case of insurance and other things! :D

Love the idea of calculating the cost per wear. It really puts things into perspective when you realize how loved a bag is, how much use of it you're making.

I think this would appeal to owners of numerous/frequently rotating bags, or those considering handbags to be "investments." Perhaps resale geared.
It is a clever, helpful idea. :)

But, as none of the above applies to me, not something I'd do.

I love this!! I've always kept a list of the bags I've brought, the year I got them then the price I paid, I've also got a wish list as often I'm just lusting over a bag so this helps me plan, the cost per wear is a great idea!!!

It's not crazy. You're just ahead of your time.

I keep lists in a text editor on the ipad, and pics of items in a photo manager app. That is how I resist buying items similar to what I already own.

If I want to buy something new, I download a pic and use the picstitch app to see what items in my wardrobe that it goes with. It's surprising how often I can talk myself out of something because it doesn't go with much in my wardrobe. Even though I might think it goes with everything! Browns and blues are like that...

If I need to wear something more (to justify cpw), I use picstitch to make new outfits starting with the item I want to wear more. So I really don't worry about cpw since I can adjust that by wearing the item more.

And all this is very entertaining to me, so less time shopping for new stuff.

I think it's a great idea. You'll really find out which bag works best for you.

I keep lists of all my bags ( and accessories, shoes, boots, prize RTW and scarves) on my phone. I also write year/season bought, colour, HW and size too so I don't duplicate too often, type for type. They jump from my wishlist to category list. I don't keep the figures coz a) I'd rather forget TBH b) I keep most of them so long it would get a bit tedious.
