I’ve been looking for something like this (except in a light color for spring/summer) and a grained or croc embossed Sac de Jour (in either nano or baby size) is on my short list of contenders. I love the look of many Saint Laurent bags but the SDJ is so understated, classic, and timeless. I’m just obsessed with it right now.

Have you thought about the YSL Envelope bag? I think it might be perfect for you! I have it in the medium size in all silver (so leather and hardware are silver) and I'm absolutely obsessed with it! It's so easy to wear, the leather is extremely durable and doesn't scratch and the shape holds up so well since it is quite a structured bag! It comes in a few different sizes and in the black version it even comes with gold, silver as well as all black hardware - so you have a great variety to choose from!

I'm looking for the same thing, an everyday bag (crossbody) that can be dressed up or down. My Prada nylon has been my go to this past year! I never thought of the puffer bag, all these comments make think it could be perfect! Anyone have issues with it showing scratches/marks? I take good care of my bags, but an everyday bag always takes a hit.

Mine is black lambskin with black hardware and both have been holding up to daily wear. No hips to the hardware. They must do something to the lambskin to make it so soft and durable

I was having the exact same dilemma as you! I actually owned the Lou Camera bag in smooth leather but ended up selling it because I wasn't happy with how the leather was wearing (the leather strap also started to peel). I debated for the longest time between the large Kate (too dressy and stiff) or large Sunset (too heavy and boxy) as an everyday bag before finally deciding to go with the West Hollywood. It can be pretty hard to find a new one so you may need to buy preloved, depending on the type of leather and hardware you're looking for.

This YouTube video really sold me on it:

Hi
I need a black shoulder/crossbody bag for everyday and cannot decide which bag I should choose. The most important thing for me is that it should be durable and that I should not baby it and be afraid of scratches, wrinkles etc.
I LOVE the design of the loulou in small, lou camera bag and even the college but I am worried that it will getting creases (I've seen really bad creases in the preloved market). So now I'm leaning towards the sunset and kate but I've heard that the sunset is heavy and I only like kate in the croc version which I think is too dressed up for everyday wear. I don't have any ysl store near me so I will purchase it from the website. This will be my first ysl bag but I have the cardholder which I love and it is so durable. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts? It doesn't have to be one of the bags that I've listed here.
Definitely the Puffer! They're so versatile and there are a few really unique materials out right now! I'm purchasing this one soon!! download.jpg

@cei28 How is your decision-making going? YSL makes great day-to-night crossbody/shoulder options, so you’re in the right place! I agree the Loulou and the Lou camera bag are FABULOUS options but hear your concerns about wear. I don’t own a camera bag, but given the construction, I don’t think you’d have to worry about creasing as much as a the flap-bag style. Also because the quilting chevrons are stitched closer together on the camera bag, it might be a bit less prone to creasing.

But the Loulou is so gorgeous! I’ve had a toy version for two years and it has held up amazing! I don’t baby it, even have been caught in the rain and the leather is much tougher than it looks. Just a bit of wear on the corners which I expected. However, that said, yes…creasing and warping of the leather is the main concern. I do have one quilt on the front flap that has developed a quite obvious warp. If you are going to buy direct from the YSL website, I’d touch base with customer service first to check their warranty coverage for this issue. Even send pictures of used bags you’ve seen and say directly “if my bag starts to look like this, what will YSL do?”.

The other option is the envelope bag. It has the quilted visual interest of the Loulou line but is constructed of the grain de poudre leather which is very durable. Keep us posted!

Hi, I’m new here and looking to purchase the envelope bag as my first YSL bag also with silver hardware. I’m looking to purchase the black Tri leather. Do you mind sharing your experiences with the wear and tear of the bag? I’ve heard some things on here about the tips and edges wearing super fast on this bag and it’s got me kinda worried  just wanted to know if you had a good experience with the quality after having the bag for awhile. Would be super helpful! Thank you!
