Stud Size Increase As You Get Older?

You don't HAVE to, but you may WANT to. There are no rules that state you should wear a certain size at 20 then a larger size at 30 and even larger at 40. It's a matter of personal taste. But for a lot women, or me at least, there's the DSS (Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome) the older you get. Maybe it has to do with poorer eyesight.

yup.. this is starting to happen with me.. the older I get, the less I want to wear those big (and heavy) costume earrings and the smaller my studs are starting to look :crybaby:

Can you explain this more, I'm not sure I understand it. Thanks!

I thought I was pretty clear. Ok let me try to be clearer. You don't HAVE to increase the size of your stud earrings as you grow older. But you may WANT to because of many reasons, for example, you are exposed to bigger more beautiful diamonds, you have more experience with buying jewellery, you start to appreciate diamonds more than costume jewellery, you are financially more well-off than in your early 20s so you can afford bigger etc.

I have upgraded my studs four times.... I buy them in my favorite store in the US, fly home to Europe and somehow they shrink over the Ocean....when I go back to my family in the US I just HAVE to upgrade, and yes I am sure my poor eyesight and cabin pressure is the cause.... I have kept this last pair a long time now though...but who make the rules, and the great thing: there are no rules!!

I understand. Thanks! :D

Maybe some older women feel its a right of passage, the things they've been through in life earned them bigger stone. And more years of income, more money, kids gone, etc.

Am rapidly entering the 'brooch' years.
When I was younger I thought why would one wear that big pin? And I noticed that the women wearing brooches were mostly over 60.
Still got a few years but here I am starting to look at brooches. Mostly for the design & beauty. Once in awhile I think, I could wear that at the neckline. Haven't pulled the trigger & bought. Nothing has 'sung' to me yet.
