Storing your Chanel bags safely out of view

It's actually really difficult to store your Chanel bags out of view because leather goods need air and they need to breathe. So in dust bag with the top open.

I have a walk-in closet. So I can just lock the closet.

Perhaps you can get cabinets with opaque doors. Close the door when you're out and open the door when you're in the house.
I currently have them on display inside the Ikea Billy shelf with/without the dust bags. The door has a space in the middle (where the two door meets) that allows the bags to breathe. Our walk in closet is attached to the master bathroom so I am worried about the humidity. Also, if someone broke into my house and saw that the master closet was locked, they might try to break them open since it is obvious that there are valuables in there. I guess there is no perfect answer. I will probably find a cabinet with wooden/opaque doors so that they are not readily visible and move the bags somewhere else and store them when I travel.

We were lucky, they came in while we were about 2 mi away at dinner. I can replace everything except the sentimental jewelry passed down in my family, luckily we were very well insured, but it still hurts. Insurance helped to beef up our security system, I can't sing AIG's praises enough. I highly recommend adding cameras and actually using the alarm!
It's a good think that everything was insured. Did you have to get separate insurance for the bags? My husband thinks it's covered under our personal property but I heard that luxury items are probably not covered. I took pictures and have receipts for everything just in case. As for the alarm, I always turn it on, but it's my husband who is sometimes forgetful. :(

I agree with you, I don't like them on display because you never know who has the wrong intentions. I would suggest getting a small accent cabinet that you can also use in your room. I don't know where you live, but you can easily find really affordable ones in stores like HomeGoods, Wayfair, etc. Take the bags out to air though!
Exactly! It's hard to trust anyone these days. My mother in-law's friend's house got robbed, and they took all of her luxury goods, including Hermes bag while she was visiting her son for Thanksgiving dinner. They think it was the house keeper or someone who knew where she stored her bags, but they don't have any proof.

We have a policy for jewelry, bags, art, etc. . . I keep photos and now keep all receipts and I write on the receipt "Black Chanel WOC" for example. I'd ask to find out for sure, you'll be so sad if they're not and something were to happen.

A more expensive option is to have a company like California closets come in and customize something to address your specific needs. Also, it really depends on your insurance company. We have a very comprehensive insurance policy covers luxury items, jewelry and art but it is pricey.

Thank you so much for the info! I’ll be sure to check it out with my home insurance.

Oh wow. I guess I will need to check with our insurance company. Where I live, no one wears luxury items. I might see LV here and there once in a while, but never Chanel. I am from an area where Chanel is a common designer, but we moved here a few years ago where there is really nothing here. I have to drive 1.5 hours just to get to a decent mall. I do travel a lot so I carry my Chanel items then. Hopefully, I won’t be on living here forever so I just need a temporary solution. I check out IKEA as well as other furniture stores and see what’s available.
