I would go and buy a Lindy- it is a modern classic Hermes bag which you can enjoy for years to come. You should have money enough to get a small leather accessory as well.. Look for key holders, credit card cases or key chains. Have fun shopping!

My vote is for a Kelly. If you have enough (or can add enough to the gift) to buy a Kelly 28, that would be most versatile. Alternatively, a Kelly 25 costs even less than a 28 and is quite useful too, especially if you wear it messenger-style. It is in fact pretty youthful looking and leaves your hands free so it's good for shopping as well as cocktail parties.
