Storage of Tiffany jewelry

I have a medium sized jewelry box with several drawers in the middle, and two cabinets on either side. I keep my necklace in the Tiffany pouch and then tucked into one of the drawers. I never leave it hanging in the cabinet since it may swing and rub against my other necklaces. I don't want to risk scratching my enamel blue box charm.

Putting silver pieces in individual plastic bags and then in pouches is smart. Are they just really small ziploc-type bags and, if so, can you buy them anywhere? The only thing I'm wondering about this is if it is better for the piece itself to touch plastic or to touch the smooth pouches?? Which is better for preventing tarnishing? I may try putting the pouches into a plastic bag.

You can get them at newsagents or craft stores.. I guess putting them in a zip lock bag prevents oxidization more than just the pouches but I clean my jewelry often anyway so it doesn't really bother me, I've recently been purchasing stuff from revolveclothing.com and they've put little square pieces of 3m anti tarnish strips.. might be worth giving that a go!

BTW.. if you don't have a label machine just use magic tape! Scribble on it with a thin marker or pen and stick another one on so it won't smudge.. that'll do the trick! :D

All of my earrings are in their own compartment in the earring drawer.
Boxes are stored in the closet, inside a box which came with my decantor.
I do keep my bracelets in pouches, I don't have many, and I usually just wear a watch.
Necklaces are stored on hooks. In my jewelry box, I have two sections of hooks - I keep one for play/costume and the other for tiffany/gold.

Hope this helps. Worst case - it's a great time to go shopping for a new jewelry box.

Hmmmm... am struggling with the SAME debate (how to store jewelry) right now! Have always thrown my pouches in my jewelry drawer or box.... but my casual (costume) jewelry has outgrown all of my boxes, and I have about 10 little pouches... plus now a few chi chi Van Cleef ones that need to be in a safe somewhere... am considering the Juicy Couture charm box because I'm the same way, if I can't see it I won't wear it! I'd LOVE to leave them all out (everything!) on my counter, all displayed... alas, it's like begging them to be stolen (not just by robbers but by tiny 3 year old hands!)

Those 3 year old hands are SCARY! Things disappear, and you don't see them again until your DD (or in my case, DN) turns 13... and she starts wearing them!!

"Oh, it was just in my jewelry box from when I was a kid..."

Have you thought about putting it on top of a medium sized bookcase or lingere chest - about 4-5 ft tall? Then you just have to worry about 4 ft or taller thieves!

I keep things that I don't wear often in the blue pouches. I keep things I wear often, but not every day in little ziploc plastic baggies to keep from tarnishing. I keep everything in little wooden trays that I bought from BB&B that are technically for silverware. I then lined each compartment with felt cloth.

Ha! That's so funny... you know my wedding rings went missing a month ago and I am convinced they will show up just like that one day!! So far am missing those and one fun but really pretty Kate Spade earring ... a couple of not-expensive chains... and who even knows what else!

Maybe once we get an alarm system I'd do that... I just feel so vulnerable leaving Van Cleef etc. things out - I don't think I could! My Tiffany silver, yes... I love it but a lot of it has been around for a while and well loved... I see these gorgeous table top jewelry organizers and think that would be SO NICE!!! If I saw it I'd wear it!! :)

I have quite a bit of tiff jewellery, and I keep the pieces I wear everyday in their pouches in the tiffany sunglasses case - its a gorgeous leather velvet lined box and the lid is magnetic so it opens and closes really easily. Its too bulky for my bag so I put my sunnies in another case and I use this one as a jewellery box :) Here are some pics just for fun!

my less everyday pieces, I have become really good at knowing whats inside each pouch just by feeling it up.

my rarely worn pieces,in yet another tiffanys box, put in their pouches and placed in ziplocked bags with the name of each piece written on it. I would like to do it for all my jewellery but I can't be bothered to for now. Its amazing though how it stays as new when I do that.

my fine jewellery is kept in their original boxes and all of them put into this little lockable storage unit. I used to collect swarovski jewellery as well but I rarely wear it anymore.

Hope you enjoyed your little peek at my collection :)
