Stinky LV metis and what dehumidifier did to it

Had a storage malfunction once with my Saint Laurent SDJ souple. It was covered in mould all over! No damage and I wiped it all off but a bit of a smell remained. I used diluted white vinegar to wipe the bag. The vinegar smell evaporates and takes bad idours away. It worked.

I have the PM Métis reverse and it never smelt funny but I’d be comfortable wiping the inside lining with a microfiber cloth soaked in diluted white vinegar and then air outside or even in the sun. The sun is great at taking odours out too but be mindful of UV damage.

Can’t believe this hasn’t been recalled. It seems like it’s a a common problem. I actually repurchased this reverse bag after my first pochette Métis had the glazing issue. But that bag never smelled.

Glazing and cracking are not the only issue of this beautiful bag. It has a sticky odor also. I am so sad why I got it for my mom’s birthday. I thought they already resolve it.

I got mine in second half of 2018. I've been using it very frequently, and I don't store it, it's just sitting there in my closet for easy access. So far no problem.

When the weather is nice, try opening the bag and air it out in your backyard or something. Fresh air and sunshine. Try that.

May I know if there’s an issue about your PM? Like glazing or cracking or stinky odor issue since u had it? Any thing u can share? Bcoz I got her it 2 months ago only.

Had my Métis since it first launched. It has some cracking on the edges but no glazing issues and it doesn’t bother me. Never smelt.

Oh I’m glad that yours has no smell. How old your PM now? I saw a video in YT that after 5 years LV replaced her a new bag bcoz they found out that there was a defect. Not about the crack or smell or glazing issues. There’s a crooked on the other side. Actually I didn’t see the PM that I bought bcoz I bought it thru LV online and sent to my mom as a surprised bday gift. I’ll gonna see it once I went home after 6 months.

No issues with my 2018 PM. It's holding up great. Other than patina on the vachetta and softer, more pliable canvas, (both natural wear) it's literally a new bag. I'm very happy with it.

Hi all, I am new here and trying to find the solution how to solve this smell problem with pochette metis. I was travelling in LA and bought it from there in 2018 or 2019. Since then I wore it occasionally and now smell is so horrendous that i can’t open my bag in public. I tried charcoal packets, paper d’armenie but the smell still there. Anything else I can try? Will LV customer service be any help?

Hi, I found out the bag was recalled due to faulty glue or whatever. My bag looked pristine too. Basically I went to boutique and requested repair. Repair called asking for money. I said FU and said I found it was defective bag from media so you better fix it. They have store credit the amount I paid. Unfortunately they could not replace it with PM (classic one). I had limited edition one, obviously it is discontinued, they refuse to downgrade model and give classic one as they increased price. Honestly from my new bag I still smell same bad glue (very tiny amount) so I would never buy another LV bag.
