I "think" I have decided on a traditional step cut solitaire for my e-ring upgrade. I just love the classic simplicity of the stone.

But I'm not at all sure of how I want to have the stone set.

I need your input girls. Bring me your suggestions!

Hmmmmm, I guess this isn't a popular shape anymore?

I love emerald cuts, and I'm considering getting a tennis bracelet with alternating emerald cuts and round brilliants. There is a thread with lots of photos of emerald cut diamond rings. If you can find it, I'm sure you'll get lots of inspiration from them.

I've seen a couple stones but haven't made my final decision yet. It's going to be approx 5 ct (maybe a tiny bit more).

Right now I'm leaning towards a simple platinum band but pave might work as well.

I would love to see pics of any rings with a stone of similar size :smile1:

thanks Monica. I remember seeing pics of pazt's ring. That is one killer stone!!!

Right now, I'm leaning towards mounting the stone in a simple platinum band, no side stone, no pave and let the stone speak for itself.

Sounds like a beautiful choice. I have a 5,3 ct stone in brilliant cut and I love the fact that the setting is very 'clean'. The ring is antique but you will only see the lovely details from closeby. The only thing you normally see is the stone.
As you stone is huge, it doesn't need any bling. It will be very chique to let it speak for itself.

emerald cuts are my favorite cut of all.... i love the clean simplicity of it, it's like looking into a clear pool.

although my stone is not nearly as big as yours will be (mine is a little over 2 cts), i think a simple solitaire platinum setting is the best.

alternatively, i also like the 3 stone setting flanked by 2 trapezoids (i like this better than the baguettes)

and my last option would be surrounded by pave (but i think this takes away from the simplicity of the stone)
