Does any one have any issues with the material on the handles shredding/rubbing off? My 1 month old St Louis has bits if it flaking off in little pieces. Never overload it, use infrequently maybe 3x a week of light use, mostly in the car and in and out of places, not much actual carrying.

hi everyone! i too have a black SL GM and have noticed some slight cracking at the base of each handle. i'm not too worried for now as the cracks seem superficial, but i'm worried that this might become an issue in the longer term. to the ladies who also have seen cracks - do you think this actually impacts usage of the bag? as in does it mean the strap really is coming OFF of the bag, or are the cracks just cosmetic? TIA ! :D

It's the sealant that cracks not the actual strap, Ive beat mine to DEATH overloading it for overnight work trips with clothing, my laptop, toiletry bag etc and shoved it underneath the seat it front of me when flying and it's still my go to bag when I've a lot to pack and want an unstructured bag. I'll eventually replace the handles and have the corners reinforced but it's my most used Goyard and I'm so glad to have it and I bought another one just before the huge price increase.
Hi there! Do you know for sure that it's just the sealant? If it's the straps itself that are detaching, then I might consider proactively replacing the handles! TIA

I bought my St.Louis Pm last 2013 from Bergdorf Goodman and so far I don't see any cracking on the handles. I use a Samorga organizer and I've never folded it since I got it. The reviews here on the purse forum makes me paranoid that one day I'll see the cracking so I tend to baby my St. Louis. Now I'm kinda on the fence on having personalization done on this bag cuz it costs at least $300 when I called Neiman Marcus (Beverly Hills):((

I have a black on black. I lightly use it on weekends. At the end of the day, I enjoy using it. I bought it at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. I would love for my bag to not have cracks or wear within such a short amount of time. When I asked the SA about how to repair the bag should cracked handles occur, the SA said to bring it in and they will repair it. I love that that is an option. I got my LV Neverfull handles replaced and they look great. I absolutely "enjoy" the bag.

Hi everyone so I recently purchased a gm in Black and Tan for a goyard store in the us. The bag had some wrinkling on one side at the base of the handle and I expressed my concern to the sales rep who said this is normal and that the handles actually no longer crack because they are now made of pebbled leather. She also said the next shipment of bags in that size and color wouldn't be for a month. I went ahead and purchased the bag but am having second thoughts. I called another goyard store and they told me the bag should not have wrinkles at the base of the handles and that they had several in stock. Additionally the sales rep said that handles do crack. I then called another store and they said that there shouldn't be wrinkles at the base of a new goyard bag. I was told by the store that I purchased the bag from that while there is no warranty, the second something goes wrong with the bag I should let the store know right away and the could see what they could do about fixing the bag. Ugh I am now wishing I hadn't bought the bag but it is too late I think because it is not a chain store but an actual goyard store. Could you please tell me if you've had wrinkling on your bags and whether that turned to cracking? And how goyard handled it? Thank you!

The wrinkle is sign of softening of the handles. It is perfectly normal. I see that in both my Saint Louis.
I do not think it has direct correlation with cracking. There are many discussion on the cracking issue of Saint Louis's handles. My advise (which Goyard SA will probably tell you) is not to twist the handles.

However, since you are so concerned about the wrinkle especially since it is brand new, can you return the bag and wait for the next shipment of your designed style to arrive?

I am glad to hear that this is normal and I talked to another friend who said here is like this too. As long as the wrinkles don't lead to cracking within like a year I'm ok. It's not perfect but I hate the idea of waiting a month especially since this was a birthday gift!
