Sanibelle, sorry for the late response. I just read your message.

I took it to a Home Depot and one of the associates cut off the shorter handle rings with a metal cutter. I am not sure what the tool is called but it looked huge and heavy and so was grateful for his help! Those are some solid rings and i would recommend you take the help of a professional and don't hurt yourself. I wonder if a jeweler could cut the metal rings off. Best wishes.
And oh Sanibelle, I too did not want to get rid of the pretty coral short strap. I attached a couple of detachable 0 rings( sort of a keychain rings) after the non detachable ring was cut. This helped add length to the shorter handle as well and laid better on my waist but always left the shorter handle detached. You can do something like that but from my experience you will not miss the shorter handle.

Someone in the mini reveal thread had the best idea and it would work for this too. Instead of cutting off the strap, cut off the rings and replace them with gate rings that open so you can take the strap on and off. If the replacement rings were slightly smaller, it would probably fix the squeaking too.

I TRIED to pry open the ring on the MK bag and it wasn't happening. :push: I never thought about having it cut off. Thanks for the tip. :shame:

I did want to use a spring clip on there like I have done when 'revising' a couple of Sophias and 'altering' a couple of Legacy clutches.

How did you revise your Sophias?

How did you revise your Sophias?

I never liked bags that fit under my armpit, but I love the Sophia and suffered with it. But it got to the point that I can no longer wear a bag like that, my arm goes numb from being cocked out like a chicken wing when a bag is jammed under my armpit.

So, I got rid of most of my large collection of Sophia bags, but I've kept 3 and have found ways to make 2 of them work for me.

For my black embellished Sophia I just bought another strap and a pair of silver spring clip O rings to make it hang right. The strap didn't hang right just attaching it to the D ring that was already on the Sophia, but the addition of another pair of O rings did the trick.

For the black woven Sophia with the gunmetal hardware, I bought 2 sets of gunmetal spring clip O rings and they add enough length that I can comfortably carry it again.

Sorry for the terrible photos, this house has bad lighting for taking photos.

Thank you! I have the same problem with Sophias. The shoulder straps don't work because they are too short to let the bag hang without folding up in the middle. I only kept 2 of mine.
