I love SHW but you’re clearly not in love with it and to keep it feels like you’d be settling and you’ll pay twice as you’ll still yearn for the gold hardware. I would return it and wait for the one that makes your heart sing.

I think the Mauve is gorgeous however I personally think the silver hardware goes better with the black bag :)

I am extremely new to Chanel but I'm looking to make a Mini Square my first Chanel piece. Does anyone have any advice on how to obtain this piece? Since it's my first piece I am looking for something that will be easy to match (preferably black or nude). I apologize if there is a better place to ask this question but I'm very new to this thread also :)

If you waited for a while to get the black with silver hardware, it's easy to just be done with it. To see if you can make it work. Or to find out if it grows on you. But if you already waited some time, why not wait a little longer to get the bag you actually want? These bags are not cheap, why settle?

If black isn't your style, then skip it. You don't need a black bag because of your age. Style has nothing to do with age or colour. If black is not your thing, nobody will force you to wear black.

Very true, but I’ve been wanting to add a black bag into my collection for a while now, I guess I’m just not that excited about black. But I’m happy to say that it is growing on me.

I would only get it if you really like it.

Exactly! I was underwhelmed when I unboxed it. I had no chance to try it on since it was DH who went and picked it up. It is growing on me though somehow. :)

I’m leaning towards keeping it, and to wait for minis with GHW/LGHW in other colors. Lol

Wait for the one you really want! I have a black square mini in caviar with silver hardware. I bought it so long ago, but it’s one of my least used bags. The reason because I was always a gold hardware girl. Now that it’s almost 10 years later I started using it, because I felt bad for not using it. I also purchased a mini reissue in black with gold hardware last year and I use that much more. Even if you keep your mini with silver hardware, you will always still want the gold hardware.

You can try calling the customer service to locate the bag and see if they can ship it to you or transfer it to the boutique near you.

I am guilty of hoarding bags. Lol... I have quite a few bags that have not been used yet, DH could never understand why I “need” so many bags.

Back to the mini, I know I will always want a black square mini in caviar and GHW, but I have no idea if those will ever come back, and I prefer not to go preloved. So for now I guess I will keep this one, and if caviar minis ever come back, I will get one in GHW.

If you’re not happy with the black now, return or exchange it! :)

I have the mauve in rectangular mini and oh em gee do I love it! It is a very wearable color! I only tend to buy neutrals but surprisingly enough, that mauve goes with a lot lot lot!!! Just my 2’cents :)

So I said yes, as I know black square minis are quite hard to get, at least in my city.

When I finally got the bag, I was not as excited about it as I thought I’d be, I am excited, but just normal I-got-a-new-bag-excited, if that makes any sense at all. Maybe it being black with silver hardware? I’m not too sure. And then I started thinking about the mauve square mini, and find it more attractive to me than the black one. I am not sure if I should keep the black or exchange it for the mauve.

Bottomline is, I like the black mini, not sure about the hardware though. Maybe I just need a little convincing?

Both are beautiful bags! I am in the same boat as you. Square mini is hard to find. My SA was able to get me the black lambskin square mini with SHW from another boutique from 20B collection. I was not that excited when I received it because I just learned that black lambskin square mini with LGHW is coming out with the Cruise collection anytime this month. I already have 3 bags with GHW - black lambskin tote, black caviar jumbo classic flap & large beige aged calfskin reissue 2.55. I have a burgundy patent calfskin Chanel 19 WOC coming with gold CC logo. I just realized that I only have one bag in SHW (not including my card black caviar holder), a blue medium chevron boy bag in caviar leather I just decided just now that I am keeping my square mini with SHW to have some variety in my collection.

The mauve mini is beautiful! It depends what colors do you already have in your collection. What does your heart say? Maybe you can get the mauve first and revisit the black square mini next time. Or better, buy both since they are two different bags with different HW. Let me us know what you end up buying. Good luck!

Hi inwhites, at first I was underwhelmed by the SHW, but just like you, I’ve decided to keep it to have some variety in my collection, and I’m happy with my decision. I have asked my SA to keep a black square mini in LGHW once it is available though. My husband never understood why I need the same bag in different colors, and the more he won’t understand why I need the same bag in different color hardware. :lol:

Would like to mention that your mini is super puffy!! Lucky find!

Both bags are beautiful but I’ve also been searching for a Black mini with GHW myself. I just love the pop of gold against the black color. If you’re questioning it, it means you’re not truly happy or satisfied with the purchase so I would recommend waiting for what you really want! It’s not a cheap purchase so get what “sparks you joy!”

I’ve decided to keep it and get another one in LGHW, I can already see my husband rolling his eyes. :lol:
