That is interesting to know. Would anyone know what period I would need to be looking at for the quality vintage pieces? is it the further back the better?
Given the Speedy B seems to have only come onto the market since 2011 would I notice an improvement in quality for example buying one of the earliest versions? Or should I be thinking of the original version? Being a crossbody girl I feel like I would miss the strap
I honestly think the quality in 2011 was better, at least in terms of the thickness of the canvas. Like I said, I haven't noticed any quality issues with my newer pieces, but on my 2017 Speedy, the canvas is most definitely thinner. I don't know how this will wear over time. My favourite (I shouldn't play favourites!) LV bag is the Cabas Beaubourg, which I have in Damier Ebene and Monogram, both from 2010, and the quality is outstanding. Both are genuinely good as new, and have seen A LOT of use.
I know many people here at the forum have experienced bad quality with LV in more recent years. Fortunately I haven't really had any issues at all, but I do feel a slight difference in how things are made now versus even a few years ago. It's a shame but I guess the same can be said of many things -- appliances, cars, hell, houses, even! I live in a building that is over 100 years old. I wouldn't want to take up residence in one of those new prefab houses that are built like pieces of paper. They just don't make things the same anymore! I'm starting to feel like in general, vintage is best!
