Hi LV lovers

I am new to LV and would like to get the speedy B 25.

having read some comments on here about a decline in quality I am wondering if preloved through a reputable site like Fashionphile is perhaps a good idea?

I am absolutely fine with preloved. Given it has been a decade since it’s release would an earlier version be a good idea? It has it remained the same quality wise for the last 10 years or so?

Thanks for any advice

I have a Speedy that was purchased in 2017 and I do feel like the canvas is a little thinner than on some of my bags from 10+ years ago, but having said that I've had absolutely no quality issues with it. I hope that it will hold up for many years just like my other bags have done.

Thank you so much everyone. This is very helpful.

That is interesting to know. Would anyone know what period I would need to be looking at for the quality vintage pieces? is it the further back the better?

Given the Speedy B seems to have only come onto the market since 2011 would I notice an improvement in quality for example buying one of the earliest versions? Or should I be thinking of the original version? Being a crossbody girl I feel like I would miss the strap

IMO it depends on the color you choose. DE you can get preloved in good condition. Mono is a little harder due to the vachetta and DA it much harder and more expensive.

I am still a little torn here. I love the original monogram but I am aware of the vachetta being a bit more difficult to look after.
I hope you don't mind me asking what is the reason the DA is more expensive than the DE? Is it just popularity?

I think it's just that DA in excellent condition is not as common and a vintage DA in excellent condition would be even harder since by virtue of it being older, the vachetta would typically be darker. I would think a vintage DE in excellent condition would be easier to find. That said, I have all three and I bought them all new over the years. Maybe I would like the older canvas more, I don't know. :)

Thanks again @Gatsby its a dilemma for me I love the original monogram but the DE makes more sense preloved and in terms of care

I use my DE most of all. It's my most-used bag, it always looks nice, it's so lightweight, it holds a lot and is great in wet weather. I recently purchased the DA and ended up calling customer service and ordering it rather than trying to find one preloved that still looked really good.

Thank you that is great to know as I think the DA I would not be careful enough with it I am worried it would get dirty. Do you find the DE goes with a lot of outfits?

I had a brand new speedy B25 in DA.
I sort of ended up hating it. A - thin canvas, very. B - small annoying opening. C - useless (to me - too small) inner zip pocket. D - DA just wasn’t for me…

I sold it to Fashionphile about a year or so ago & don’t regret it.

I just bought a preloved mono Speedy B35. I thought I would use it for travel due to sizing - as my personal item.

Ends up - I love it so much I’m currently using it daily as my work bag! I’m 5’2 and small but I find with the slouch it doesn’t overwhelm me like I thought it might. It’s very pliable. The opening size is SO much better!!

I went preloved for a few reasons.
A - I wanted the open pocket, not the zipped.
B - I wanted it already with patina
C - Quality
D - I wanted made in France

Anyway - not exactly apples to apples but the Canvas on my new to me old (2011) speedy B35 is far superior VS the brand new DA B25 I sold. Hands down. No comparison.

So - depending on what you’re looking for, sometimes preloved is the way to go!

This is my new “old” speedy. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for this detailed post this is a noon question but how can I tell how old the speedy is when hunting is the serial number a give away?

I love vachetta with patina on the mono so I totally get the above. For DA I would try to delay it but for mono, if it's in good condition, I wouldn't hesitate to get mono preloved.
Thanks I am still leaning towards mono I just think I like that design more than the others
