Speedy B 30 Zippers and hardware tarnish

Hello everyone! I. love the Speedy, I have a DE 30 Bandoleire. I bought it almost a year and half..I used, it is not my only LV bag, but I try to rotate them. And the speedy it goes with everything, I love the shape of the bag.. although at some point I found the opening too small, for such a large bag... But it is a classic that will stay with me forever! But at six months of purchased I noticed the Hard ware, double zipper and the strap pull, completely tarnish, and chipped. Also the rings in the strap. My SA Told me it was like this,it was normal and gave me a cleaning cloth.. which did not help. Later I was talking a. friend that the same happened in her two sppedy B. She insisted that I would take it bag to the store, which I did it again.. This time The SA, took all the informstion, and send the bag for a quote for repairs. waited a month, and they came that they were replacing all tarbish and chipped parts for free. basically all hardware. Now I am waiting fot the bag to come... It is a beautifull bag too young to be tarnished and chipped. I will keep you post!

Two different things:
- Chipping is a well-known issue with some of Vuitton gold hardware (especially zipper pulls on the “cheaper” items).
- Tarnishing can be remedied by polishing the hardware regularly.

I wonder if weather has something to do with it. My area is pretty dry and I have no issues with any zippers pitting at all. The D ring does have some tarnishing but it wipes off. I'm glad they are taking care of you tho!

The same thing happened to my Speedy 25 DE. I noticed the damage during the first year. I tried to polish it, and it improved a little but still looked tarnished. Now my speedy is almost 5 yrs old, but I need to bring it to LV to change the zipper pulls, because they leave my fingers smelling like metal. On the other hand, I have the catogram Speedy, and I swear they used different materials with much better quality. Granted, my catogram is not 5 yrs old, but I did noticed the damage very early.

My gold hardware are like others, chipping and tarnishing look. My environment is hot and dry. My silver hardware are a different story. They don’t show any wear like the gold hardware.

I could be wrong but I think your Catogram Speedy B is made with different HW. I remember a thread discussing how the Giant monogram collection last year came with HW similar to the kind used for Alma's (shiny gold & matching D-rings/strap hooks) unlike the standard ones used on classic Speedy's. It was a new, marked improvement for seasonal Speedy B's - from having the standard mismatched HW at the LE higher price point.

I was hoping for shiny gold HW on this year's Escale Speedy B but they went with silver instead.

Same thing is happening with my speedy B 30 DE. I have some other LV bags and this tarnishing only happened with my speedy B. My friend also experienced the same thing with her speedy B 30 DE.

I remember a thread discussing how the Giant monogram collection last year came with HW similar to the kind used for Alma's (shiny gold & matching D-rings/strap hooks) unlike the standard ones used on classic Speedy's. I agree! The catogram has matching hardware, unlike my other Speedy.

So I guess its not weather related necessarily. I just got a DE speedy b30 10 days ago and when I took it out to use it today, I noticed a lot of tarnishing on the strap rings on the side of the bag. When I bought it, I had a feeling it was a return but at the time, I didn't notice anything so I didn't really care. (the date code was a bit old, lock and keys were scratched, the sku code papers were a bit tattered and the dustbag had a perfume smell). I'm really disappointed with this. I'm taking it back tomorrow to see what they say but I wonder if its something that I'll just have to live with if I want this bag (not necessarily with this particular bag, but speedyb seems to have this problem in general).

I know this is one of their cheaper bags, but it's still $1,600 with tax. I recently sold my 10 year old DE bag (which was in perfect condition) to streamline my collection and to replace it with this speedyb30. Darn!!!

My Speedy B25 in DE is three years old in June and does not have tarnishing (knock on wood). I live in WA state (and carry it in the rain often).

Hello! I finally bought the speedy b 25 in de yesterday, but upon thorough inspection when i reached home, i realized some issues with the bag. So upset and disappointed
