Which would you choose for first LV bag?
I would get either one in the DE.

- Based on looks alone?
- Based on functionality?
- Based on resale value?
- Based on forever bag/classic status?

Functionality and looks both required. Must appeal to me aesthetically and must WORK for my purposes. If either is missing it’s a no go. Bag status and resale value do not matter to me. If it meets the first two I will love it, use it and won’t want to resell it. For me I prefer the speedy 25 because it holds more and easier to access. But that varies by person. So what would work for you?

I have 2 speedy b25s and 2 Alma bbs and absolutely love both bags. They are my workhorses. I see them as 2 completely different bags for different purposes and I rotate them depending on if I’m with my kids (then speedy b to carry more stuff) or not (I love how small and easy it is to carry Alma BBs). I think the resale value would be based on the material (from what I understand, canvas ones are very popular in the resale mkt?) as both bags are classic/popular.

Thank you all! I think that I will put the Alma on my wishlist because the Speedy will serve my needs at this moment in my life. I have very little kids and need to carry a decent amount with them. As a mom of 3 under the age of 5 I’ve also learned you don’t need the kitchen sink like you thought with your first though lol! I need to carry something fun and the speedy 25 will make me smile. The size comparison you provided is so helpful! I think both are beautiful and functional so that checks my boxes too! Can’t wait to see her in person

I do think speedy b25 is a GREAT mom bag! You will absolutely love it :)

I have another question for you! Do you enjoy having both of these bags in DE? It’s my favorite LV print so if I got the Alma BB, I’d get it in DE as well. I like the black epi leather Alma bc but I have other black leather bags from YSL that would kinda be repetitive. Do you think it would be too repetitive for me to have speedy b 25 and Alma bb both in DE

I have 2 alma Bb’s in epi leather with the jacquard straps. Reason why I got the Alma’s with the thicker straps is because of the comfortability to wear them, especially shoulder or crossbody. I am a shorty (5’2”) so the standard leather straps of the alma falls a bit lower on my hips than I prefer to. I love the classic look of the alma from any angle, so I got 2, and looking forward to more. lol. As for what it can fit, I have to be mindful of what I need to take w me for the day as the space is not as big compared to the 25b. On the other hand, I have the speedy B 25 in 3 prints. For me, the speedy b 25 is a good option if need to carry a bit more, but not sacrificing style and comfort. As what others also shared before, the straps are adjustable in length, and is also another classic. If I were to choose which one I like the most, I’d say both. ☺️Look wise, it’s the Alma for the win. It is one of the beautiful bags designed that is timeless. Functionality and comfort wise, I go for the speedy 25.

I personally don’t think it’d be too repetitive to have both speedyb and Alma bb in DE and this is coming from someone who worked really hard on downsizing the collection SIGNIFICANTLY and curate after having 2 kids. With that being said, I have speedy b25 in DE and in black Empreinte and Alma bb in black epi and DE and my intention is to keep all 4 in my collection forever since they are just so beautiful and practical bags. I did sell my YSL baby Niki in black to downsize my collection and I am currently debating selling my LV Marelle in black epi as well since to me, Alma bb is so versatile- goes from day and night, and I feel like I only need this bag as my one and only mini black bag in my collection. But I could still change my mind lol. And there’s also nothing wrong with having multiple small black bags so this just what I like at this point in my life :)

I think Alma BBs and speedy b25s are so addicting. Lol. I found my purse peace when I finally added these 2 bags to my collection after taking a long break from purchasing LV :)
