Speedy 35 damier ebene canvas corners damage normal?

hi everyone,

I was just inspecting my 1,5 year old speedy 35b in Damier ebene and found the corners to be fading and on a couple I even noticed the red colour of the inside lining visible. Would you consider this normal wear and tear? I consider the way i use it to be normal and I don’t throw it around or anything, so I’m quite shocked at what I saw. I attached a photo of the worst corner. Hope you can give some advice, thanksE1859930-A8D7-4B55-8694-1A1AF4332DF6.jpeg

I’m sorry this has happened to your bag after just 18 months. This isn’t normal as in happens to all bags, but does happen if the bag has had rubbing on the corners. This could be due to rubbing against you whilst carrying it or having an accident. Corners of De can show black or darker first but will eventually show red once it gets to the lining. Unfortunately I doubt that lv will do anything about this as they will consider it to have been used a lot or without a lot of care. I am not suggesting in anyway that you have done this, I just think that’s how they will view it.

This also happened to my speedy 35 in DE, I haven't babied my bag but I haven't thrown it around either so I was really shocked. My sister has a 1 year old speedy 35 also DE and the bottom of the bag has patches where the canvas is rubbing off. She never puts her bag on the floor and is very careful with it. We both took our bags to LV and was told it's wear and tear so they refused to do anything about it.

Sorry this has happened to your bag it's quite annoying, but unfortunately LV won't do anything about it. I believe it could be the quality of the canvas :(

I was just thinking the same thing. I know this has happened to older speedies which have been used a ton (or abused) but it seems to be happening way too early to newer bags even when used carefully. This is very disappointing.

I have the thinner DE canvas aswell on my speedy :hrmm:. I think this thinner canvas only came out around 2016/17 something like that not entirely sure. So somewhat kind of a guinea pig on the new canvas. Hopefully this isnt going to be a running problem whereby many more people report similar wear issues. I've not abused mine but I've used it a lot.

went to the store this afternoon and they indeed said that it is considered normal wear and tear. they also confirmed it was the inside lining that is visible. While i fully understand that a bag wil indeed get some wear and tear, i am really disappointed by this after only a year and a half. Just hope it won't deteriorate much further and ultimately form a hole. we shall see. thanks for your replies

Wow, they made canvas even thinner in 2016/2017. I really want a speedy b but this scares me. I have a pochette from 2004 and the canvas is so much thicker than my 2011 classic speedy, can't imagine they made it even thinner.

I have the same wear on corners of my Illovo mm which was purchased in 2007. I noticed around 2016 so it took many years to wear. 1.5 years for your speedy seems rather quick.

I just bought a Speedy b DE 30 and straight away noticed the much thinner canvas compared to my 2.5 year old Speedy 35! The handles weren’t sewn on straight and the canvas wasn’t aligned straight on both sides. Sent it back and am considering a mono speedyb 30. It seems all brands have their issues, unfortunately.

I have a GM NF in DE and the corners are showing red. But, I did buy it pre-loved a few years ago and it was made in 2008. I am understanding about it but would be upset if it was less than 2 years old.

I just got the damper speedy b and i must say i don't notice any difference with my 2011 damier speedy. My older speedy is even more slouchy and i really like the new leather. mine if MIF
