Hi I was wondering how would you be able to do a special order?? like how much do you have to spent before you do??
Im planning to get my first hermes bag. But heard so much about how you have to spent so much money before you are even offered a birkin or kelly. sniff***
getting offered a SO can vary pretty widely but most people have to spend a good bit and have a few other bags before getting offered one. you'll be lucky if you can get a regular k or b without spending much, much less a special order.

As much as we'd like to have a formula or process to be able to purchase coveted items, get a SO, etc etc there really is no set path to follow. It really is about enjoying the journey, learning about the brand and culture, having a bond with your store and SA and getting to a place where you can discuss your loves and what you want. For me, I am not by any means a high profile client or a big spender, but I love purchasing scarves and shawls from every season and indulging in the jewelry and leather goods when I can. As a result, I have a very strong relationship with my SA, as she knows my taste and that I am loyal to the brand and have been for almost 5 years now.

Enjoy the journey and remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. There will always be more exciting colors coming out and things to buy along the way.

if you just want a birkin or kelly it would be easier, on your psyche and wallet, to get it from a reseller. getting a regular stock birkin or kelly is a hit or miss proposition - you would have to get lucky. but for some reason, the desperate ones never get the bags; i think hermes associates have a sixth sense for these things (kidding - sort of).

getting offered a chance to do a "special order" is rarely ever about luck; it is mostly about your relationship with your SA and the store. you generally have to cultivate a relationship with an SA for them to give you their special order allotment. now this doesn't mean you'll have to drop a ton of cash, but it's easier to be rewarded with an SO you when you're lining their pockets with commission.

But most resellers are charging the bag for at least 50% more of the bag's price.
I guess I'm not really picky in colors. So i'll be happy with any kelly 32 or 28.
I'll try to go check out the store and maybe at least try on the size an see if i can check out the leathers. and try to buy some small items than. Thanks anyway

Even though i do not really wear scarfs or shawls much. But i i guess i'll have to start buying them, maybe for gift to my mom. I have a really good relationship with most of my other SA including shoes and bags. So i guess i'll start doing that with an Hermes SA den.

paying an extra $5000 - $6000 to a reseller might not be so much if you consider that each cashmere shawl is over $1000 and each CDC is also over $1000 and a non-kelly, non-birkin bags are ~$3000 at a minimum and that you will spend all that money at Hermes with no guarantee that you will get the Birkin or Kelly you primarily desire.

it's a calculation you must do and in the end it's your decision; all i can do is wish you luck.

This is good advise. Think about it.
Apey I laughed at your sixth sense comment. Frankly I think you are on to something there.

well. I guess at least I'm getting a scarf or a cdc or sth.. Better den nth. few of my friends of done it. They purchased few items and They were able to get a birkin. But i guess i just have o be lucky den lol.the worst is get it from resellers if i really want one later. If after few tries i still can't be offered one i guess maybe it the bag is just not meant to be mine for now.. I don't have any hermes items yet. So getting few things won't hurt. :)
