Sooo irritated about this! I know my fellow Coachies will understand

The chain on my teal Ella broke after I carried it for ~two months (as my everyday bag). My expectation is that a $700 bag is going to hold up longer than 60 days, and as I noted to the SA, that thing is too heavy for me to be swinging around, so it was unlikely that abuse caused the problem. She totally agreed and went to work finding me another one (they are in short supply) after Jax was less than helpful. She found one in PA and exchanged my damaged bag for the new one.

1. Obviously my bag could not be placed back on the shelf because it was missing the chain. The SA said that defective bags had to be sent back, no exceptions, which is kind of a shame, because someone could totally use that bag.

2. The bag I received from PA was obviously a return. It appeared to be in brand new condition, but the tag was hand-written, so clearly someone had snipped the orginal tag at some point. Under the circumstances I was fine with it, but that wouldn't have flown with me if it was my original purchase.

I don't feel bad at all about returning the bag, and if the chain breaks on this new one, I'll do it again. I think the girl in the original post sounds like a flake, and while it's annoying, I do think that the purchase of a "luxury" brand item comes with a "satisfaction guaranteed" assumption. I don't like what she did, and I don't like the thought of people abusing it, but I get it.

Not a coach story, but could relate to this thread:
I was at Nordstrom Rack over the weekend on the hunt for some shoes. I found a super cute and comfy pair of Cole Haan pumps (with the nike air) which were marked down to $79 from $275. I was shocked, they were a current style being sold at the regular stores... but then noticed that they were labeled as "Worn and Refurbished". Needless to say, I was not interested in them anymore. I didnt reailze they'd resell used goods, but at least Nordstrom labels them as used. I know they too have a pretty liberal return policy, similar to Coach.

I bought W&R Cole Haan tennis shoes there and had no problems with them, I don't know what qualifies them to be considered "worn" but the soles were clean and the insides were too.

I noticed the insides were clean, but the bottom of the soles had some weird coating added to it. I guess that was what they meant by "refurbished". Had I not noticed the label, I would've never known they were used. I liked the fact they took the time to label the shoes as "worn".

I think what frustrates us about coach returns is we really do not know what happens to the used bags. It would be nice to see returns labeled as such at the outlet, where I have seen some clearly used bags on the clearance shelves.

I'm bumping this thread because I had something similar happen today. I was at the Coach outlet picking up something for my mom today, and the woman in front of me was returning 3 different bags. They all had the tags off, and were clearly used (one even had a small stain on the top of the bag!). The lady returning them said "she just doesnt like the style"... well obviously she liked the style because the three bags she bought were all very similar in style/ shape. They advised her that she needs to make sure the tags are on for a return, but they still took them back! I even saw them shaking out the one bag behind the register to get whatever crumbs, etc. out of the bag! I just do not agree at all with using something and then returning it (unless of course its broken/ damaged), but to return a perfectly fine bag just because you wanted to use it for a day or two? That is just ridiculous IMHO. I am hoping those bags dont make it back out onto the floor... but from what I have been reading here I won't be surprised if they do...
