I've always loved marquise diamonds. I didn't get a solitaire but a 3 stone with a halo. In hindsight, I wish I didn't pave the band. Have realised I like seeing some metal and that I don't gravitate to full pave pieces. When I wear this, I usually wear it on my right.
So if you've always love ovals shaped diamond rings, just do it! I always wear an anniversary/wedding type band on my left ring finger. If I'm asked about it (which is rarely), I just say no I'm not engaged/married with no explanation and they can think what they want to think.
