For investment it's always better to get the clearer, more vivid colour (pref untreated). I am prob the only person that likes complicated in-between colour stones. If it were major investment then I would also choose the stronger coloured stone.

Thanks for the advice! Just out of curiosity, what’s in between color stones?

So a natural vivid yellow is clearly yellow, but a slightly green-yellow or brown-yellow will be considered of lesser value. Same with any other fancy colour, pink should be pink, blue, blue etc.

Oh I know what you mean! I also like greenish yellow and purplish pink ^_^ do you own any in between color stones? Will love to see!

Just want to Update that I picked a 1.06 vivid over a 1.17 ct intense that is about the same price today at the 5th ave as my anniversary and mother’s day gift ^_^ Love and thanks to my DH! Thanks my cute SA :) thank you ladies for all of the advice, I saw a few more cushions in the store today but I still love the oval more so I went to it!

Most of my diamonds are 'boring' white I'm afraid. I've tried a beautiful green diamond in a ring on at Asprey, unfortunately completely out of my price range. It was very green, I know if I went to Hatton Garden (the diamond quarter in London) I could prob buy a cheaper one of a similar size to set but it would be a yellow-green, or grey-green, or olive (brown-green) or even blue-green. The best stones always go to the best jewellers because they will pay more wholesale than we can pay retail. On the other hand brown, grey and black stones that only used to be good for engineering and cutting are now fetching OK prices due to the general interest in fancy coloured stones and clever marketing.
