SO Black Chevron Classic VS Reissue

good morning!!

So I have the SO Black Classic Chevron Lambskin ML Flap from a few years back. I absolutely love it!

I've always loved the SO Black Chevron Calfskin Reissue 225 as well & just got one from Saks when they came back for Prefall. I got it just before the increase that hit the SO Black Reissues last week, so paid $5300 vs. $5800 that they are now. (Yikes)!

My question is, are these too similar? My Saks SA even said she thinks they are too similar and wouldn't recommend I keep the Reissue. I just like that I can wear it crossbody & the Calfskin is more durable for daily use vs the Lambskin.

What a truly beautiful collection you have. You clearly have an affinity for the so black beauties. I personally would not part with your gorgeous 225. It is very beautiful and special and edgy and looks different than your CF, imo. Sorry if this is not helpful.

They are very similar, but I would keep it because you said that you can wear this one cross body and I know with the classic you cannot. Also, you said you have been wanting it for a long time. If you change your mind later on, you will have to pay much more than you paid now!

Gorgeous collection! I have 3 So Black bags (226 reissue, Small Coco Handle, and OM boy) and your So Black collection is TDF! I would keep So Black reissue, the aged calfskin is durable and hides imperfections, and the ability to crossbody is awesome. If anything, consider selling the lamb CF instead (but I would probably keep this too, because So Black).

My two cents is that you clearly have a love for the So Black collection and it would be rude not to add the reissue to this... got to have the full set right?! But seriously, I think although there are similarities between the CF and the reissue the gorgeously puffy aged calfskin of the reissue makes it stand out and that’s good enough reason to keep it imo !

Just wanted to say that I have the chevron lamb all black jumbo and walked away from the small chevron reissue all black (a real rare gem) in Harrods 2 weeks ago for the same reason.

I love my so black collection

The turn lock and chain on the reissue look so pretty with the crumbled calfskin. Even though it’s the same chevron pattern as the m/l lambskin, I think each is exquisite in its own way. Being able to wear the reissue cross body is definitely a plus and you purchased it before the price increase
I personally would keep both

I hope Chanel will re-release your so black quilted lambskin with matte black hardware again. This is my HG of so black and I would love to add it to my so black collection

I would keep it!!! It’s different than your other so black bags( chain strap, turn lock and type of leather are totally different), plus you got it at a great deal before its price went up!!!
I’m drooling over your stunning So Black collection though!!!

And......what if you returned and then regretted and wanted to buy again, but now you have to pay that price increase So the price increase jumped another $500?? Holy cow!! I had a version of your dilemna. I , too, have a “ So Black” collection. Six pieces in total. I have the Jumbo quilted lambskin with the black hardware. I stalled with buying the So Black reissue in the maxi thinking it was too similiar. I broke down and just got it! I pondered this for over two years. Keep both. The leathers are different and the hardware is different. You will not regret it.

You have some great pieces in your collection I think the bags are definitely similar, but I would keep the reissue- I think that by having the longer chain and the reissue turnlock, that adds some contrast to your other so black pieces. And that so black reissue is just stunning, the distressed calf chevron with the so black hardware is just perfection.

Wow Bentley, these are ALL incredibly beautiful bags & pics...major gorgeous eye candy & love your display of SLGs I’m going slightly against the majority here in saying I find them a bit too similar, like your SA says. I am ONLY speaking in terms of if it were me, I would not have both as I try to make my collection have differences BUT that is just me & if you truly love them both & finances do not weight into the decision, then by all means keep both. I would keep the reissue if i could only keep one (because i prefer them but also I do see a majority of CFs in your gorgeous collection so I think the reissue adds nice variety.) Best luck deciding!
