Hi All,

Yes, does anyone know more about the Cooper Tote? I have my eye on the large (regular) sized one but am not sure. I'm not big on the shoulder strap style that comes with the smaller Cooper tote but am also concerned that the larger/regular Cooper is too big (45cm wide compared to 35cm wide in the small). Also, the small seems to sit tall and more like a square (similar to the Celine Luggage) whereas the Large/Regular has a traditional tote feel (wide).

Also as Elizabel says, does anyone know whether the small can be flung over the shoulders? I have fairly big arms though but find the flexibility of being able to carry it on my shoulder very helpful, particularly when I have other shopping bags.

Hope to hear from someone with more information! =)

I had a friend who visited their Bond St store for me and who reported back that the biggest issue with the large is that it is so open at the top, as it can't close. (and I catch public transport, so that's a deal breaker for me). My friend also said that the small Cooper can't be slung...the armhole is too small, you have to use the shoulder strap. Hope this helps.

Funny I found this thread today, one of my BFFs and I were up ogling the Smythson website at 12 am this morning, lol! She wants a toiletries bag and cosmetic pouch. I want a wallet. But we are both broke and banned right now =(

Hi All
I'm new to the forum, but have fallen in love with the Cooper Tote in Violet (although I know the black is probably the more sensible choice).

Babybelsmum, I see you have the small tote, did you try the size up? It's hard to get a gauge on the sizes..I'm the same height as you. I would like to know if it is easy to sling onto your shoulder or if the arm hole seems a bit tight? I'm also dying to hear what the finish is like on the bag? It looks amazing.

I hope to hear your opinion.
Regards
Elizabel

So sorry I haven't kept up but I love the Cooper Tote and it is amazing in terms of what it holds. I didn't try to size up because I'm on the short size. I carry it over my wrist or in my hands - wouldn't really work over my shoulder. The finish is beautiful - peppled leather so you don't have to worry about scratches, etc. I can't wait to purchase my next Smythson. Again, apologies for my delay in responding.

Bumping this thread. I came across the Panama tote on Barney's. The fuschia zipped is calling my name. And for $895, love! I haven't read a bad thing about this company, I wonder why it isnt more popular.

Everytime I have been in their store, the staff has ignored me. And the stock at Barneys is bad and incomplete. They need to work harder to get my money.

I think they've been a top notch stationery and small leather goods company for most of their history (founded sometime in the 1800s), and have supplied the royal family for generations, for example, with this type of stuff.

It's only in recent years that they've branched out to handbags. I don't personally own one but I've been interested in them for a few years now. It seems that their bags are thoughtfully made and of good quality.

I like Smythson! I have a really nice leather cosmetic case (Made in Italy). They can also do an embossing service for their leathergoods.
I also have some stationery things (diary, pens, paper...) which are really nice quality too.

Also the customer service is A+++, I had a diary shipped all the way to Australia.
I noticed a tiny flaw on one of the pages and sent an email to customer service - a lady replied instantly and said she would organise a pick-up service and have it sent back for repairs.Unfortunately by this time it was too late (Christmas present) and wouldn't arrive back in time.
She then promised me complimentary free shipping on my next order (which is significant - 60 or so dollars for boxing and delivery)
Packaging was really special too, lovely blue boxes with ribbons.

In the future I might be looking at getting a jewellery box :)

I recently discovered them at Barney's as well. I purchased an Eliot clutch which I use as a wallet. The leather on the Eliot line is just sumptuous! I've received compliments on it and people would ask the brand since it is not very popular where I live. Overall, I love the quality and the functional design of this series.

I love Smythson! They are a stationary house but their bags are of top quality! I have a nancy tote, a goat leather tote, (housekeeper's) wallets (which double up as a clutch), sunglasses cover, passport cover. Very happy with them and enjoy using them!
