This week I fell down and sprained my ankle. After I heard the pop, my first thought was, “get the shoe off as fast as you can before it starts to swell.”

Later, after the emergency passed, I began to wonder what would happen if you fell and injured a wrist in a Love bracelet. Because I would want to get that off as fast as possible, too. I was stuck on the ground for a while b/c of my ankle (and easily could have broken my fall with my hands and hurt my wrists as well). For me, I have ruled out the classic Love for this reason.

My question: is there a way to quickly remove the small Love in case of an emergency? Can you use your thumbnail, for instance, to open the clasp, or is it tight enough that it has to be the screwdriver?

Emergencies are fairly rare. Most people keep the small screwdriver in their purse/handbag.

I wouldn’t let reasons like that deter me from owning a classic Love bracelet.

Also, hospitals have many tools similar to a screwdriver type tool in order to unlock the Love bracelet.
Rare as they may be, they happen. This one really made me think. If you are sitting on the ground unable to move with a rapidly swelling limb, having a screwdriver in your handbag is not going to be of any help. Also, the idea of waiting to get to a hospital so they can remove your bracelet may not be appealing. (Especially if a trip to the hospital may not otherwise have been necessary).

Really wish Cartier made the regular size Love with the small mechanism or another quick-release mechanism. (And yes, I may investigate the cuff.)

To me, it’s not a huge concern of mine or something that deters me from purchasing the Love as unforeseen things happen in life, but if you don’t think it will work for you then that’s understandable.

Having grown up in NYC in the 60’s & 70’s, I haven’t bought a love bracelet because I wouldn’t be able to get it off if I were mugged. Yes, I know it may be crazy but that’s how I was raised. (I also only buy handbags that close on top, I wear my bag crossbody if in a city or I have my hand firmly holding it.) I ended up buying a Hermès CDC bangle because it can open, but I still lurk on the Cartier love bracelet page because I love seeing everyone else’s bracelets!

I also live in a city and do not think that’s crazy at all. Also a consideration for travel in dangerous areas.

I love the look of the love but sometimes I really do want to remove jewelry. For me there are the emergency considerations, but also workouts. I lift, and unless I went with a huge size love it wouldn’t work with wrist wraps.

This was why I was curious about whether you could just open the small with a thumbnail.

Hope you okay, such a good point, I only just got mine and leave the screwdriver at home, hope when the time comes someone or I will be act accordingly.

My coworker removed a love from a patient that needed an mri, with a standard screwdriver. I’ve heard of hospitals having Cartier screwdrivers on hand in their EDs, just in case a pt comes in needing one removed.

I fell off a bike once on vacay and badly injured my ankle. It watched it quickly swell up to the size of a tennis ball. A good friend of mine was chasing her kids around, tripped and fell on concrete with the impact on her wrist and forearm. Accidents happen and I personally would never want a piece of jewelry to be in the way during an emergency. I guess it would depend on how badly I want the piece of jewelry and whether or not having the bracelet on all the time would annoy me. I‘m the kind of person who finds it annoying to wear any jewelry around the clock with the exception of my solitaire earrings.
