Hi all,

First time posting on the Hermes forum. I'm feeling ready to buy my first Birkin. I've always wanted a Birkin in a neutral shade.

I have found a black Birkin 35 and love the look of the leather (not sure, but I think it is Celemence) - the store have said this Birkin is from the year 2000. My only worry is the slouchiness of this Birkin.

I have attached some pictures. Is this normal for a bag of this age? Would love to see some pictures of other Birkins that have slouched so I can see how they wear.

I do like slouchy bags, but I'd need to see how this bag looks worn.

Thank you all!

Edit: It's Togo leather.

I had a clemence birkin that I purchased at Hermes and Day 1 it was slouchy. I actually like how a 35 looks both slouchy and structured so it is a just a matter of preference. Agree with Lulilu that bag pictured looks like it may be stuffed so her advice for additional pix is a good one.

I have a couple of Clemence Birkin's, a 35 and two 30's, with almost no slouchiness.
The oldest one is a B35 purchased in 2014 and she still stands up all by herself, very minimal slouch. The 30's show no slouch at all, but that's due to the smaller size.

The bag you're showing us, I believe once unstuffed will collapse and you'll most likely need an insert, but if that's the look you're going for then why not?

Here are some photos of my B30, including being carried. Its buffalo. The leather is substantial. It’s somewhere near the one in the photos in age. I love slouchy bags and have no regrets, but, that’s just me...
Here it’s empty and I stood it up but it’s posture is not strong.

I turned it so you could see it from the side. Again, the posture is quite relaxed.

Here, I set it down and gave it a bit of a nudge and it’s so relaxed that it looks like it’s drunk....

And, being worn.

I love love love the engraving on the hardware-is it a limited edition or something? I've never seen anything like it before-gorgeous

Here is a good place to start. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/post-pics-of-your-slouchy-floopy-used-birkins.178825/

Larger softer Birkins will slouch over time and a 2000 birkin is technically “vintage” at this point  so be sure you like the look or keep searching for a more structured piece. Good luck!

I think the bags in the linked thread are very slouchy and posted by members who love the slouch. My clemence 35B in my avatar was purchased by 2006. It does not look a lot different now and does not fall over if not stuffed. It really depends on the year the leather was tanned. Some years/batches are softer than others. Personally, clemence is my favorite leather. It's not as readily available as togo in my experience and I have had togo substituted for a clemence request in SOs without prior notice. You have to examine each individual bag.
