SJP doesn't own a Birkin of her own she could have carried? I find that part the most difficult to believe. I do recall the "Is Hermes French for we take our f*cking time??"

I know, a cast and team that earned millions, and not one actor, producer, writer, could have lent a real 35/36cm designer bag of any sort to cover SLP's bump?
Has it definitely been identified as a fake? Part of me wonders if they didn’t just tell SJP that so that she and the other actors weren’t careful (and therefore unnatural) around it.
hearing this depresses me...I hate the idea of anyone knowingly buying counterfeit designer goods and to so knowingly and showing the item on TV masquerading as real..just yuk!
Happens a lot unfortunately. I see fake B/Ks and others in shows all the time. Not in French films though.
I wouldn't have even thought Carrie's character would have considered H B in the early '00s. A fashionista aficionado, a stickler for detail, she would have gone for a beaten up 1950s Kelly or something outre. The Birkin 35 would hard to hold up high in front of one's stomach, it was the diaper bag de jour at one time thanks to Kate (Moss) channeling Jane (Birkin). Kate is a bit like Carrie (in SatC) in that she not only knows her fashion but knows her popular culture history iconic moments.
Interestingly, in vintage films that had movie stars like Audrey, Ingrid Bergman and Elizabeth Taylor, stars would often use their own (given or bought). They also occasionally had their own wardrobe designers aside from the the costume dept (as in Audrey x Givenchy). If they were playing characters that would have had those things (including real fur or designer wear - I noticed Renée Zellweger was wearing faux in the latest Judy Garland biopic) they should be wearing them, the cameras pick-up on everything.
