Ok, I am sure it sounds like sacrilege but I don't like my Birkin.

I have looked at Birkins for a long, long time and finally decided to get one for my own. I found a very nice used one on eBay last month and purchased it. It came in and was lovely to look at, nice pretty brown with palladium hardware, but I put it on my arm...and I didn't like it. It just didn't feel right.

I put it up in my closet and decided to give it some time. A week later I took it down, thought about trying it again but put it back in the closet. Thursday I was going out for the day and thought I would try it one more time. I put all my stuff in it and was ready to take it out...I ended up switching to another bag before leaving.

For so long I wanted one of these bags and it just is not working for me. I can't pin point what it is that is not right. Maybe it is the size and I should have gotten a larger one. Maybe this is just the type of bag for me. All I do know is I am really sad about the whole purchase and really mad that I have that much money tied up in a bag I will never use.

So, am I like the forum weirdo? Has anyone else had this issue with a Birkin?

What size is your Birkin? Which colour and leather did you buy?

I don't think that everyone has to like a Birkin?

I don't care for the Lindy. I love the look of it on the shelf;but I don't like the way it looks or feels on me.

Everyone bag doesn't suit everyone. I had thought I was a Kelly girl but when I got my Birkin I realized that the Birkin more suited me and my lifestyle. Do you think there is a chance you'll grow to like it? Is there something in particular that bothers you?

jemi, I've "never not liked the Birkin" for lack of a better way to put it.....but, it the styling took me a bit of getting used to. I love it now.....and the way I learned to love it was to use it.

Just a thought:smile1: in case you feel you'd "like to" like it, but just don't....yet. I'd say give it some time.....give it a chance like you would a potential friend whom you've just met and would like to get to know.

jemi - some forum members have been thru several birkins before they found the one that was right for them. If you like the basic style then maybe it's the color/size that's wrong? (I'm birkinless myself - but if I ever do "man-up" and buy one, I hope I get the right one the first time cuz they are so expensive.)

Sorry to hear about your delima. Like others have said maybe this just isnt your style bag or you've purchased the wrong size.

For me it would be the stiffness,I plan on make the purchase some day and for sure will check out the store to try the size one to be sure, second I'll be purchasing a previously owned/loved handbag. Hoping that someone has already broke her in :) I have no issues with adoption

Never had this issue with the Birkin. But with the Kelly. Gave it more time, played with the Kelly more and all ended well. I have enjoyed both styles eversince and appreciate the ease in using both.

It is a 30cm, box in brown (not sure of the name). Here is a pic. Maybe someone can tell me the name of the color.

I wish I could pin point what it is that I don't like but so far I cannot. At first I wanted to say size but my Kellys are close to the same size and I like them a lot. (Granted the Kellys for me are not an everyday bag but a dress up bag - so different use).

I don't know if I will grow to like it . To be honest I am not really confident I will. Sigh - this just sucks.

See, that is the thing - I have always admired the Birkin and loved the look of it. Shoot, even though I don't like carrying the one I bought I still like the look of it a lot.

Ya know, I think it may be the size after all; oh and what a PITA it is to get into (even with the strap not done). Maybe I should have gotten one with a softer leather - the one I have is awfully stiff and thus why it seems difficult to get in and out of. I wish I could nail exactly what it is.

Well I have been talking about this with one friend from the forum and thru the conversations we agreed maybe I need to see how a larger one feels to see if that is the issue.

I don't think it is the color - I really like the brown. And it is much nicer than the picture I posted (that picture is terrible - make it look like a shiny bag). Since opening this thread and making a few responses back to people I am thinking maybe it is the leather and I should have gotten something softer - the bag is a real PITA to get in and out of even when not strapped up.

I feel your pain! I went through two absolutely GORGEOUS Kellys and as much as it pained me to sell them, I sold one last year to by my 35cm Trim and the other just recently to buy my new Gao. I'm a shoulder bag girl, period. I like the occasional hand carry bag, but I prefer my hands free. Even with the shoulder strap that comes with the Kellys, they are such a PITA to get in and out of that I finally said ENOUGH!

If you don't love it, sell it and wait for something you love. My Trim and Gao are far from "signature" or "it" Hermes bags, but they are fabulous and work very well for me in my little shoulder carry world. ;)

Why don't you try tucking in the flap and wearing it open? I find mine very easy to get into, and a Bagmate makes it easy to organise!
