One of my UTR favorites, my black Paris Bombay 36 made from VL. The super soft and light interior leather is very delicate, so I’m very glad that my bags all have a MaiTai Collection insert. Love those.
great insert! I have a 40cm version of this I brought pre-loved this year and the interior is in perfect condition at present I use dust-bags inside (unglamorous I know!) because I'm so scared of marking it-did you have to special order one to fit the PB?
And as an aside-I WISH they still made the PB i love it so much

Does your 40cm PB get too heavy? I love my PB but I do find it too heavy if I had to carry it all day. It’s probably just me always carrying too much...my SA was shocked at how heavy my 2002 bag is and I had to show her everything I had in there as she couldn’t imagine what I’m carrying...

I have 10 of those inserts now so MaiTai is always very helpful. I give her the measurements and she suggests which sizes could fit. The Paris Bombay has a B35 insert and it’s a good fit.

No I actually don't find it heavy and I'm someone who has in the past brought bags that I fall in love with but cant wear due to the weight (Marc Jacobs Stam bag for instance and a Loewe large Amazonia to name but 2).
Mind you I got it in the middle of the first lockdown and haven't had an opportunity to walking around town all day since I brought it-life has been work/home when I use my Toto bag as I dont mind getting hand sanitiser on the fabric and so I have only used my PB a few times when going out for lunch and to go to a gallery.
Hopefully 2021 will see me out and about a bit more for recreation and carrying my favourite bags with me

Good point about the fabric lining and hand sanitizers! Thanks!

This is an Hermes blazer pochette. I have never seen another one and haven't been able to find any others online. I had a number of unusual limited production Hermes bags over the years. Hermes on Madison Ave gave me access to their enormous reference books from over the years with all the styles they've made which allowed me to put names on these long extinct bags. Many images in these books were only sketches with no photographs.

I was able to find this gem in one of those books which is the only reason I know the exact name. The strap detaches so it can be just a clutch. There is no date stamp which makes me wonder how many were actually produced.

Wow! I feel actually privileged being able to see such a rare bag-I love the almost nautical feel to the styling of it.
I must confess I get more joy seeing these forgotten gems than looking at endless birkins.(Not that I'm adverse to Birkins, I just love seeing under the radar or forgotten designs so much more!) Do you still have your other out of production or rare bags? or photos of them? I'd love to see!
The thought of those reference books you were able to look at makes my mouth water!
I wish they would publish a book of all their designs over the years-I have a Loewe book crammed with virtually every bag they've ever designed...if Hermes did similar I'd be in heaven!
Thank you for posting this and giving some background-and happy healthy 2021

You just reminded me of magazine/ catalog dedicated to Hermes Bags that I bought 12 years ago. It’s a Japanese catalog of Hermes bags available for resale in Japan but I was able to order the catalog and get it shipped to the US. Most of it is in Japanese but the description of the bags is in English. It ended up being such a great resource for vintage and discontinued H bags. I’ve attached pics of the catalog as well as some sample pages of the vintage bags. They also have tons of pages of current bags in every color but it is always more fun looking at the discontinued bags. The catalog may still be in production but I just can’t recall how I managed to get it.

I used to work in research and this makes my mouth water. I do love a good hunt for background information. I‘m sure this includes a wealth of knowledge

Gorgeous bag, it’s been on my list of bags to patiently search for, for ages now. I know it’ll be worth the wait when I find the right one though!
