Should I Shorten My 5-Motif Vintage Alhambra Bracelet

Depends. I have 5 motifs that I have removed 4 links and some none. The ones that I haven't removed the links I like to wear as a necklace. I like them smaller but I prefer being able to wear them multiple ways.

Thanks for steering me back this way :D Looks like I do need to research both options still - shortening and wearing as a necklace with another 5-motif. Only my neck can determine this for me, LOL!

Hey @SmokieDragon check out this thread below if you haven’t already. It has lots of pics and measurements and discussion about shortening options. Hope it helps.

I always have my bracelets shortened. I find loose bracelets uncomfortable.

Congrats on your new bracelet, it's stunning.

Thanks so much! :D This is the first bracelet that I'm thinking about shortening. So I haven't really encountered such a loose bracelet before (unless I count a gold beaded one that my hubby gave me but gold is more carefree)

After reading through the thread that @Cosmopolitan shared (thanks so much once again! I also found a funny and ingenious video there on how to attach a short bracelet using a paper clip ), I’m thinking of 6-link removal as think I can live with the non-symmetry :D

Oh happy news! My bracelet is ready! Sent for shortening on 9 Oct and it’s ready today, 18 days later! Will be picking it up this weekend

Yay congrats! Do show us how the new fit is and if you like the 6 links shortened! Do you mind measuring the bracelet out in cm to show the total length after? I have a bracelet coming in end of the week with 4 links shortened and hopefully that’s the right length for me.

I use a hair pin instead of a paper clip to take my chain bracelets on and off like in that video you showed, it’s been such a time saver! I used to bother DH to help me but I felt bad annoying him all the time

Sure, will do! Thanks for the tip of using a hair pin since it’s longer!

@tenshix here are the pictures of my shortened bracelet - it’s 16.3cm! Perfect! Please excuse my haphazard stack as well haha. The 6 links that were taken out measure 2.9 cm. The instructions were to shorten by 3 cm. The only disadvantage about this length is it doesn’t fit in the box so well now

Love the JLC and isn't it more important to fit your wrist?

Yay, twinsies with our BA bracelets. It looks gorgeous on you. Just to add that the easiest way l've found to put bracelets on by yourself is to use a bit of washi tape. I position the tape on the chain between the last and second to last motif (l don't want to cover my motifs incase the tape leaves any residue) and then take the clasp with my other hand and do it up. I haven't had my bracelet shortened yet but has worked for me with other shorter tighter bracelets easily enough.

Thanks! I just ordered some to give it a go!

i would shorten it to the right length for your wrist. Then when I transform it into a 10 motif necklace, add a necklace extender to give it the right length as a necklace.

So... 5 motif hooked onto necklace extender hooked onto the next 5 motif and then that 5 motif hooked onto the first 5 motif to complete a circle.
