so i have been having a grown up moment, trying to re organize, minimize, prioritize my closet and am in the midst of a dilemma
i recently purchased a K25 togo ebene and i can see myself using it a bit particularly on wkds bc it has a casual vibe
-- i also have a black vintage K28 box sellier - which truthfully- i barely use--just never get around to it bc it feels more formal and definitely w the pandemic, there never seems to be the right occasion
i work full time, have 3 kids so im either in work mode for which i have a bigger bag or mommy mode
on wkds i need an easy cross body and K25 can fulfill that need
i was thinking of selling the vintage sellier, but then i feel like i may regret it down the line as it is such a classic timeless bag.. but she just sits in my closet!
should i hold on to it or sell?

Well, I own a vintage black box retourne K32. I love it! I use a black canvas strap with it, which really gives her a much more casual vibe. She’s also my knock around bag because she can be refurbished so easily! Which I have done, and she comes back from spa looking new! If you can, I’d hang on to it. You may not use it much now, but later (say when you need reading glasses And sunglasses!) you may love the bigger size. And just add a fun strap to it to bring her to a less formal feel when you want!

If you love the bag (even as a beautiful object that you get a thrill out of seeing) and can afford to hold on to the bag, I would recommend hanging on to it, because you might find yourself in the mood for it later as we ease back into being more social & dressy occasions. And you might also want to pass it on to the next generation eventually too.
It will also be more difficult to replace if you change your mind, so if you hesitate... hanging on to it might be the better option!

I agree with the others. The vintage BBK28 is such a classic, hard-to-find bag that, if you can swing it, I'd hold onto it. I get that you might think that it doesn't fit your casual lifestyle right now, but like others have mentioned, you can put a more casual vibe on the bag with a wider canvas strap, etc. And your life isn't going to be in casual mommy mode forever. So when you are able to get out more sans kids and mommy/work bag, I think you'll be glad that you have your BBK28 for your outings. Good luck in your decision!

I dont recall ever seeing a retourne in box leather..or am I going crazy?? are there lots around?
I'd love to see a pic please

That was an easy 'sell' to keep, well done. So glad, as you must love it.

Generally, I would recommend anyone thinking of selling because of the Covid situation not to rush.

As for the bag's specs, a classic. If I could name the most classic H-forever bags they would be BBK S ghw 28/32 or a BBK R ghw 35.

The wait for a new Sellier (usually Epsom) and the scarcity of Box puts these vintage bags into a different league. Even pre-loved they are snapped-up. Just as an object yours is worth keeping.

I think vintage retourne Ks in box are pretty common. I have two: Indigo in 35 retourne, Rouge Vif in 32 retourne. I can’t speak to anything being produced in Box currently, though.

+1. It’s my understanding from my SA that box is currently very hard to come by.

@maxroxxherhandbags, here is my vintage retourne 28 BBK,brushed phw, first pic.

@Chrismin, i vote to keep your BBK sellier. I have two other Kelly bags, both sellier. they can easily be worn casually. The prune/plum (second pic) is a 32. The blue abysse/ blu obscure (last three pics) is 28. I’m 5’2” and medium build, size 40F, US 6-8, so not petite. DH also calls my blue kelly sellier ’the sexiest bag in the world.’ So, I keep mine, but also keep my cc in my cargo pants pocket, so Idont irritate shoppers behind me in line.
