Should I sell my heart bag - dilemma

I have mixed feelings about the heart
On one hand I don’t like the shape of the large one - it looks much better in the smaller version. It’s also something I wouldn’t personally wear. However this is a major collectors piece and the black was one of the most sought after colours. I had a recent conversation with my SA about these bags and she said that these hearts will be auction pieces in the future and has advised anyone who has one never to sell it. This is also evidenced by how much the heart bags from the 90s currently go for. So unless you really really have to I wouldn’t sell it at this stage.

Keep the maxi too. It will be fortune to replace and it’s just a matter of time with fashion constantly cycling that maxis will be back. The maxi is a beautifully constructed bag and it’s timeless.

Even though I’m not a heart fan I still think it’s way better than the sweetheart and any woc. It’s more special in the way it’s constructed and the beautiful lambskin.

The sweetheart is just another seasonal bag to me and wocs come every season and always look virtually the same. I would return these.
Yeah I agree with you on the Maxi. I would die if I had to repurchase that at over 10K although the website here says price upon request.

That's extremely interesting intel on the heart from your SA. I guess it's what I suspected deep down. Problem is I don't think I can let go of the sweetheart so it might have to be the WOCs but I think the CCs are so special. As @ant23 said so chic! And I would agree. I will play with the WOC again and decide....

Hahaha. I really like the new WOC you got. It's very special and pretty than a regular black classic WOC.

I also like the black heart bag you got. But why is it that you spent over retail but never really worn it? Does the size fit a phone? Can you wear it to a dinner, go shopping, and at least use it before you decide.

The white small sweetheart bag is cute too. It's a keep.

Vanity on chain is just something I don't get. So I would get rid of that. I don't understand the aesthetics of making a vanity bag into a handbag that's what I'm trying to say.

That's a very good question on the black heart :giggle: I guess it's because it's a collectors piece. I havent reached for it tbh with it being lambskin and having only relatively recently discovered caviar (as I have lambskin of old which is much better). I will perhaps have to give it a chance before parting ways. It does fit a phone yes.

Agree with you on the white sweetheart although it's taken me a while to get there. Tried it on with some outfits and it looks stunning. My vanity bags are some my favourites but maybe I have too many

I also agree on the WOC but then I feel like I need to reign it in!

I think you should keep the heart bag. I decided to keep one of them even though I never wear Chanel bags because it is such a quirky and yet classic Chanel piece. I think it is a great addition to a Chanel collection.

I would return the white sweatheart bag and the white SLGs. Seasonal bags do not hold value, so if you resell after your return window you will always lose money. Personally, white bags and SLGs are just too high maintenance for me to feel comfortable using regularly. I had a white Chanel before and eventually resold at a steep discount, but I still don't regret selling it. I barely used it and took the money to put towards something I love and use.

The heart bags have fallen in value. If you paid a premium you are probably going to lose money on it if you sell it now. It seems to me that Chanel has been repeating very similar versions of these seasonal bags so I would only keep something if you really love it or are using it. There were too many of the heart bags made for them to be auction pieces in my opinion. I know at one point I counted over 100 for sale on Fashionphile.

If you're into collecting, the heart bag seems like a unique piece. It can also be a interesting conversation starter. Signaling to interested parties that you're youthful and playful(maybe available too).

If there's no attachment, let the heart bag go and find a bag that you'll enjoy.

Thank you. May I ask why? Do you think it will increase in value? I guess it’s more than likely considering the rise in the maxi in recent years.
Call me crazy but I think the large black heart will go up in value because although its a heart its almost a classic due to color. I get sick of mine at times, and then all of a sudden I want to wear it - so its a cute bag to wear when you feel like doing a cute look. I also have the heart in black - we are twins - and I think it was the right choice as its a bag in a classic color and you can really run with the theme if you want to "take it there" such as with a cute black mini, or with a paired with vintage black lambskin Chanel earrings, a Chanel black smokey eye, paired with Chanel lambskin ballerina's or strass sandals, Chanel black sunglasses, or a headband or even over a Burberry raincoat on a miserable day. I think its a "staple" for a Chanel girl.

I think the heart bag is great. If I had it I would keep it, as I think you can style it so many ways - without ending up looking like Lolita.

Please tell us what you decided to do.

Agree. It's black and large, and there are so many ways to style it. Something fun for when the mood strikes. I also think it will continue to go up in value too. If I had it, I'd most definitely keep it.

I'd return the small white sweetheart bag, woc, and 2 card holders and keep the heart bag.
IMO, I don't think these are special as Chanel releases new seasonal designs every year.
I'm not a fan of the heart bag and I own but feel deep down that the heart bag might ramp up in value in the future.
And if not, it can be used as a stylish bag on many occasions; cute, cool, and edgy as it's black.

From my experience, I use to feel like my medium CF was too large for my frame, and didn't wear it for a long period of time.
I've been hesitant to sell it and get the smaller size instead. Today, as I'm getting bored with the micro bags, I really appreciate wearing my medium-size bag. I feel like what I'm wearing is a real bag, not a toy.
