The small is pretty small (like the size of a Chanel mini rectangular). You would have to downsize to a card case/holder BUT you can fit your phone in the back pocket. If you like to carry just the essentials for daily carry it is a perfect size. And I agree the stitching on the Caro is what makes it a standout for me! Good luck with your decision!

I wouldn’t say the small size is very small but it depends on what you usually bring with you. To be honest, if I have to choose between 30 M or the bigger Caro, I’ll probably choose 30 M.
Me too. If you want this bag to fulfill a certain need, like more of a day bag that can hold a bit more items, I'd get the 30M. The Caro appeals to me personally because I have a hole in my collection for something like a Chanel mini - but I will not buy new Chanel and the Caro, I feel, is so much more versatile with the ability to change the strap. And a functional back pocket, and I think the quality is far superior in new Dior, compared to new Chanel. Also, THANK YOU IT IS NOT LAMB!
I love the 30M but I know myself. I despise even slightly fussy clasps. I like zip closers or quick, turn lock flaps. Dior finally listened to my inner musings and created my perfect bag.

Turn lock flap is one of the main reasons I got into the caro!!

Between the gradient, is it worth it to get a caro or 30 Montaigne? In a gradient?

Depends on what your style is and what you like, I think given the bags you have in the collage, if you want another quilted bag, go for the Caro but if you want something different, go for the 30 Montaigne. It will also depend on whether you want a more structured bag (30 Montaigne) or something a bit softer (Caro).
I like to compare it to the Miss Dior (structured) vs New Lock (unstructured) from some years ago, my sister-in-law was a Miss Dior fan whereas I preferred the design of the New Lock
I actually like the 30Montaigne the most of the three. I prefer that in the new, more supple grained calfskin. I would choose the Caro over the Book Tote, only because the 30Montaigne and Caro are more user-friendly. I love big totes but I have to say that my Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote can get quite cumbersome, especially without a detachable strap.
