@skyqueen @eckw @sf_newyorker @PC1984 (and anyone else who owns a light colored Evelyne) - what do you do to avoid staining the strap? Is there any place I can pick up the bag without worry of staining if I already have hand lotion on? I ask because I have eczema so hand lotion is a 97x/day situation over here unfortunately... It never occurred to me until this morning (when I did not pick up my etoupe at the very last second thankfully!)
Love the custom strap @sf_newyorker - where's it from?? Looks so good on you!
Thank you for the input to both my questions! I'm a bit OCD too so it's hard to imagine making stains on a strap... but alas that may be the way it pans out, and I do always prefer a well-loved look so perhaps that's how I need to think of it (or I just need to pick up with a paper towel or something!!)I always moisturize as well since I have sensitive skin and wash my hands often (a germaphobe living in one of the dirtiest cities). I pick up my bag when I know most of the moisturizer has soaked into the skin. However, the best piece of advice I can give is: It’s okay if your bag or strap stains. It’s a tough bit of truth, it hurts, but it’s reality. Almost all my bags and their straps bear marks of my intense moisturizing! I’ve learned to let it go (believe me, I’m OCD, it was extremely difficult).
Thanks! A few years ago, Pop&Suki came out with a variety of pebbled leather straps in varying lengths for under USD $35. The leather resembled Togo and Clemence. I bought every color/length that fit my need, which amounted to 3 crossbody and 3 shoulder length straps. Of course, when they were discontinuing the line I had to buy spare ones. They’ve lasted to this day and I use them on almost all my bags.
A paper towel or tissue would be handy. I’ve become my late grandmother - I seem to always have a spare tissue tucked in one of my pockets just for picking up my bag or using as a thin barrier (if out of disposable gloves) when I grab the subway poles.Thank you for the input to both my questions! Too bad Pop&Suki doesn't make straps anymore! Sounds like you got a killer deal. Are those thinner than the Evelyne strap? The thickness is hard to get used to for me, I'm thinking something custom might be the way to go... do you know of any other good vendors? I know I've seen posts in various places but can't remember which threads. I'm sure there are a zillion option on Etsy but would want something vetted!
