short or long necklaces?

I like both but it depends for what purposes. I usually wear a 16" because an 18" for me tends to end up with the pendant getting lost or hidden by my shirt. But I also like really long necklaces (30") for layering.

ok, so i rang Tiffany and they will lengthen my 16" necklace. I'm going for 2" longer....I'll see if thats better....

I just got a Hermes Farandole 160 (also comes in a shorter 120 length) for my B-Day. When it arrived it was LONG! I think 64". Anyway, I can wear it as a choker (wrapped around 4X) or as a 3 strand. I have had so many compliments I can not tell you. You can get many different looks...very dramatic!

Both. I like to layer. I also have been putting a jumper at the 16" mark of 18" necklaces. That way, I can wear it either length.

oh really? I wonder if Tiffant could do this with my Tiffany one??

They told me for my DBTY necklace it would be $25 to lenghten the gold chain from 16 to 18. For silver it's $25 for the first 2 inches and then an additional $25 per additional inch (or something like that).

I prefer 18" though I do have several 16".

I don't wear the 16" necklaces very often.

I prefer doing 16" for my Tiffany pieces. It's different for other brands, because the chains are of various thickness and they lay differently on me. For example, I do 17" with Cartier chains.

I like having my pendants fall right at the hollow of my collar bones.

I usually wear 18" necklaces. I find that long ones don't look good on my chest (I think I look matronly), and also, I work with books all day (library cataloger, so I open and close a lot of books each day!), and the long ones get caught in the books, or, even in the case of some antique clay beads, get smashed in the books. Also, with the long ones, the necklace always manages to lasso one of my breasts, and stays there!

I wear my diamond tiffany key pendant on a 16'' everyday since it's more casual to me. But I've been eyeing the bigger key pendants for a while now and once I can get that..I'll probably get a 18" for that one and save it for night time wear.

Have u considered layering the 2 when u get ur large key? I honestly had never considered it but once I got my extra large Fleur De Lis key on a 30inch oval link chain I've always worn it with a shorter necklace.

Oooo I actually haven't thought of that. I might have to try it when I get it. I'm not sure if I can do it for day time though since both of the keys are blinged out..and I'm really worried about being too flashy :/ Or I might get a plain WG key and wear it like how you do Thanks for the inspiration though!
