Shopping In Your Own Closet May Surprise You!

My company hosted an outing today that included lunch and then fun activities at an outdoor entertainment venue on the Chicago lakefront.

Last night while I was picking out the clothes to wear today I gave thought to the bag I wanted to wear but it didn't appear that I owned anything appropriate - even though I have many bags.

I decided that I wanted to carry a medium-sized, light-weight, versatile, crossbody bag made of light, summer colors.

I mentally reviewed my bags and nothing seemed to fit. I was just like Goldilocks ticking off objections to various bags - "too big, too small, too heavy, unsuitable, not crossbody" or "too dark and wintry."

I finally gave up and selected a light-weight, crossbody bag that was black. wintry, and too small but I figured it was my best option ... and then suddenly I remembered this bag tucked away in its dustbag at the back of my closet!

This was my first coach bag, the one that started it all. She's gorgeous but I haven't carried her in a long time.

Here she is, my first Coach bag; the medium Parker Hippie 13420 RIGSN in khaki/sand op art sig with rosegold hardware.

Oh how I loved this bag! I bought her in the spring of 2009 and carried her everyday through the summer and couldn't wait for the next spring so that I could carry her again.

But I haven't worn her in a long time. My tastes have changed and I prefer larger, leather bags. But I do have a few fabric bags and if you are looking for light-weight and versatile - then nothing beats fabric.

She was the perfect choice for my outing today and I am glad that I finally remembered her! Medium-sized, light-weight, cross-body, versatile, and beautiful summer colors, gorgeous!

Here are pics of her on the train this morning, I have decorated her with my Shells fob 92910 SV MC and I think she looks fabulous!

Reminds me of my 1st Coach full-size bag--a Poppy Glam khaki/gold tote. I got so many compliments o it! I no longer carry fabric bags because I find them too hard to take care of, but your pic sure brings me back!

Thanks! She really is a beautiful summer bag and I can't believe that I had forgotten all about her and always carried a black, winter bag! And the shells fob is very versatile in gold, silver, and rosegold - I use it often.

Thanks! I am a leather bag fan but this Parker is just luminous, she is still so pretty after many years.


I use Coach Jacquard Fabric Cleaner for spot-cleaning, and I spray my fabric bags with Apple Rain Garde Water Repellent, and store them in their dustbag and that works pretty well for keeping them clean.
