Interesting you mentioned little red book, it's the only platform where I've seen few people claimed that chalcedony can turn translucent or fade in color over time. This isn't true, chalcedony doesn't become more translucent or lose its color just from extensive wear or soaking it in the water. You'd have to do a lot more than just soaking it in water for half a month, but like leaving it out in the desert sun for a decade before you can see some color/texture changes. Only possibility that I can think of is that those people purchased fake VCA, which can be glass or very low grade chalcedony injected with dye to enhance its appearance. I know those commenters believe they've purchased the authentic ones or claimed that they've bought it from the boutique, but I've seen several who posted what they though is the COA and it's clearly fake. The same thing apply to jade/jadeite, many people believe it can turn translucent over time, but high quality ones wouldn't fake in color to turn translucent either, unless they've been enhanced with dye.
