My first 10 Motif Necklace, I deliberately went for chalcedony which was missing in my collection.
Waited 3 months and I rejected the first piece as I didn't liked 2 of the motifs and they sourced the a second piece for me.

The striations in Chalcedony is truly unique and so gorgeous on the skin!

Now you need Tiger eye to match to your cats’ gorgeous eyes! 😍

Gorgeous! Did the second piece come in quickly as they searched for inventory and made you a priority?

My SA seek manager's approval and his response was of course we have to make it right.
The second piece came in less than 2 weeks from Paris to Singapore as the allocated was the only piece in the country and we have only 3 stores.

Chalcedony is a tricky stone and my SA thinks they look the same anyways, tried to show me pictures and let me know the second piece might not be to my liking as well.

What I find interesting is that on little red book, there are people sharing they put the entire necklace and bracelet to soak in water for half a month or more to achieve a transparent rock crystal- like look.
I personally like a deeper brighter shade of blue with striations across the motif.

Interesting you mentioned little red book, it's the only platform where I've seen few people claimed that chalcedony can turn translucent or fade in color over time. This isn't true, chalcedony doesn't become more translucent or lose its color just from extensive wear or soaking it in the water. You'd have to do a lot more than just soaking it in water for half a month, but more like leaving it out in the desert sun for a decade before you can see some color/texture changes. Only possibility that I can think of is that those people purchased fake VCA, which can be glass or very low grade chalcedony injected with dye to enhance its appearance. I know those commenters believe they've purchased the authentic ones or claimed that they've bought it from the boutique, but I've seen several who posted what they thought is the COA and it's clearly fake. The same thing apply to jade/jadeite, many people believe it can turn translucent over time, but high quality ones wouldn't fade in color to turn translucent either, unless they've been enhanced with dye.

Thank you for debunking this Myth!
I was worried that the chalcedony was going to turn pale after contact with water.
The same conspiracy theory applies for red and blue agate...they really can spread tales.

Yeah I've seen those too, so strange they'd come to that theory.

FYI - I've been wearing my 5 motif chalcedony nonstop for nearly 2 years now, even showered a few times with it on (even though I shouldn't, but I was lazy, lol!), still no color change. Enjoy your beautiful 10 motif!

I can’t decide if I want to purchase the 10 motif in YG MOP or Chalcedony (even harder to decide after seeing the lovely pics on this tread since they are all beautiful).

Chalcedony may be more special to me since I don’t own anything in this stone, but I have ordered a 5 motif in chalcedony a few weeks ago. I have a few items in YG MOP (vintage earrings, BTF ring, 5 motif) and don’t intend to complete a set since I’m not a matchy person. But I find YG MOP is easy to match my outfit and skin tone.

Would really love to hear your pros/cons, word of advice, or comments for the chalcedony or YG MOP 10 motif, please. 🙏 Thanks everyone!

I love Chalcedony with WG as a bracelet, but I find it can wash some people out against the neck or ears, and I would be one of those people. I can’t do WG Chalcedony or WG MOP as earrings or a 10 motif, but love them on others. You should take that into consideration. Otherwise, if it suits you, it would be a great piece for everyday! It’s gorgeous!

Thanks Marbella8! My store doesn’t currently carry Chalcedony, so I might have to wait until my 5 motif to arrive and play/test it near my neck. 😕

I love them both too! I have both 5 motifs and agree you should play with them as pretend necklaces but also go through your wardrobe to see which you’d get the most use out of if that’s important to you. The chalcedony bracelet is probably my favorite piece but the MOP matches more outfits. Since I won’t be the one looking at the necklace, I might be swayed to choose the MOP one day.IMG_3803.jpegIMG_3802.jpeg

They are both beautiful, and though both stones will vary in tone from piece to piece (and therefore impact whether it washes you out or brings you a glow), MOP will have less variance than Chalcedony. I am very fair, and I had to go through a couple of options for Chalcedony earrings (SO/MTO, so risky)/bracelet/10 motif before I found a shade that was complementary for me. Ones that were more white or gray washed me out, while ones that were more blue are very flattering.
