It might be as you said that the VC bag batch was off, I had issues with that bag soon after leaving Hermes store (odd white/black spots from glue I presume, visible corner wear after 3 uses). Maybe I’m projecting the dissatisfaction from that bag onto the new one. Thank you
I have a Clemence Birkin in 40 from 2012 and a 35 from 2017. The quality of the 2012 is much better as the 2017 one's colour rubbed off on the handles after around a year of infrequent use while the 2012 was used a lot more with heavier contents. No rub-off at all. So there will be better and worse batches of Clemence.

I swear that bag was a big hot mess. It was pulled by SM upon my request from a batch dedicated to display. I had all but problems with it - the leather issues have been mentioned + the plaques were badly damaged almost immediately, with deep scratches (and I'm not very bad with my bags). The same happened to a SO acquired a few months later and Hermes replaced the plaques at their cost without me even asking for it.
So yeah, it might be. I'll take the advice from the topic and evaluate the bag closely in person before making the final decision.
The bag is from 2011, btw.

I agree with the previous comments. If you feel like you’re having to settle then don’t purchase the bag. You need to be delighted with the bag! I love clemence leather as I find it so buttery but I’m not the one who needs to love it, you do and it sounds like you have doubts. I completely understand the frustration of wanting your wish and having to wait for it - I’m in the UK and also waiting on the wishlist - but getting another bag won’t make you 100% happy, imho. Let us know what you decide!

I agree with the posters that I need to see the bag. So far I honestly love the combo and maybe I just need to compare it with my togo Birkin to get the final view. Using word settle wasn't fortunate but I'm not a native speaker so it was first word that came to my mind.

On the wishlist: I see 0% chances of fulfilling it. I never got a bag I wanted (it took me SO to get the specs I was happy with) plus my SA does really shady things which I'm not going to talk about here but visibly I'm out of favours. I'm literally finding it humiliating at this point (this is only my situation, not extrapolating it to others). In theory I could try in the UK as I used to live and shop there but not sure whether I'm going to be around anytime soon.
I was considering purchasing a new bag with specs I wanted (not only Rouge Grenat, have also darker blues on my list) at 20k EUR price as I have the money but would really feel uncomfortable carrying it. I am struggling with finding insurer in Netherlands and whilst loosing a bag worth 8k or something would be horrible, 20k is too much for my nerves. Let's say I would prefer diversify that 20k across various brands.

I think unsubstantiated accusations should not be made.
Being 'out if favours' does not surprise.

I am very much with textilegirl.
You have not seen the bag in real life and you are publicly building up a string of negative vibes.

He is my friend so I know first hand. I'm not mentioning the names, I'm just disappointed with all that happened there. But you are right, not the place to talk about this.
