I went into LV a couple of days ago to drop off a few repairs and I brought home this.

It is beautiful, but my husband is concerned about the wear since it is already peeling a bit.

I know it’s only a once in a while bag but I wanted other TPF users opinions on if would be hard to wear?

I feel like it would look stunning with black. But I guess I’m just looking for others honest opinions on the bag.

Also I am terrible at photos

I love it :love: Very wearable on special occasions IMO. Will go with lots of different colors. Python scales can lift a bit over time, but with proper storage/maintenance it will be fine.

That is a stunning bag, however, I too would be so concerned about the wear on something so delicate as this bag. I don't even want to know what you paid for it, as I can only imagine. With that being said, I just can't imagine spending that much money on a bag that I could never, or hardly wear. I just don't imagine the wear on it being very durable, it would make me too nervous to use it. If it was me, I would honestly return it. But, that's me...

It is a beautiful bag but a little Spring looking to me. I would be very concerned over the fragile nature of the bag as well. Personally, I would prefer something I little more durable. But basically it is very pretty

But to answer the question, I am personally a little afraid of python. When I first saw an exotic bag in our local store years ago, it was a Capucines with a python handle. When I told my SA how marvellous it looks, she said that they just threw one out. A client checked it out in the mirror, and a scale from the handle came off. That rendered the bag unsellable. I know that python is not that sensitive by default, no one would sell it then, but this really told me that they must be handled with care.
Despite this story, I'd still recommend you to keep it, I just wouldn't wear it crossbody at all. Only by the handle. It should be fine then.

This bag is extraordinary! If you can afford to keep it, use it sparingly and not wind up in a battle with your husband over it, please make it the jewel of your collection. A truly marvelous piece.

One thought, though. Perhaps you could speak with an LV craftsman about possible repairs in the future. The fact that the boutique threw out one of these makes me wonder whether the staff was acting a bit rash in throwing it away or had been advised to toss it out.

I am a purple lover but this shade doesn’t do it for me. But that aside, the crystals on the letters aren’t sparkly enough. They actually look gray in the pic, like poorly cut diamonds. For whatever price that was they could have used a semiprecious stone like agate, since they did use malachite on another capucines. Just my 2c.

I have two Chloe python bags. They are beautiful (one black, one blue), but over time the scales start to curl. It's a natural process, so not exactly a defect.

I have no problems with python bags in general, and mine never had peeling issues. At this price tag, I would rather go for a regular leather Capucines than deal with exotic material.

But on second thought, at LV prices, I'd rather go Hermes Kelly or Birkin. Secondary market is fine for me as long as I love the color/ hardware combination. In fact, I carried my etoupe Birkin for the first time since the pandemic! I LOVE IT.

Stunning bag in an AMAZING color!!!! I would use it going out to dinner, theater, events, etc ANY TIME OF YEAR!!!!

ETA:. was recently watching Vanderpump Rules and I think I saw LVP using a similar bag by Chanel!
