2 of the more popular styles in this forum are these two satchels. So I thought it would be interesting to hear which satchel TPFers like better and why.

All of mine are medium

Currently I own 2 Suttons:
Dark Pink (favorite Sutton and one of my top 5 bags all up)
Claret

and 4 Selmas:

Fuchsia Jeweled (favorite Selma)
Black w/silver Grommets
Dark Dune
And a Grape on the way

First let me say I love both. Though it would appear I like Selma better because I own more, I actually like Sutton a tad better. My reason is that the Selma can look a bit plain if not in a bold color or with any embellishment. I like the MK charm that hangs off the Sutton and the classic look. The "open" or snap middle does not bother me because I never zip my bags anyway. And as someone who arm carries the Sutton feels lighter on my arm. I ordered the Grape Selma since my last 2 purchases were Suttons and I thought it would look nice in this bold color.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on which you like better. Let the discussion begin!

Oh and here are my Suttons and Selmas for a little eye candy. Grape will arrive in a couple of days

I like both. I have a Selma and I like how roomy it is. But I like the Sutton better because of all of the compartments. The zip pocket in front and in back. I don't have a Sutton yet but I will soon. Lol!

As everyone knows who has read my prior posts, I prefer the Selma over the Sutton and own three of them. However, the Sutton does have some benefits over the Selma. I like that the Sutton is so light when empty, so is much lighter than the Selma when I'm carrying a few things. The Sutton also has a more flexible leather, so it's easier to throw in the suitcase when heading out on vacation. You just have to be careful not to get creases and dents in it when traveling. I never use the shoulder strap anymore with the Sutton due to the weight-bearing design flaw. So it truly is just a hand or elbow carried bag for me.

My Selmas are my every day handbags. I like the zipper for security and the sturdy, structured feel of the bag. I never have to worry about creases or dents in my Selmas. And the saffiano leather (originally developed for briefcase-style bags) is scratch, water, and stain resistant. So the bag is virtually indestructible. I also love the trapezoid, wing design of the Selma. It truly has a unique shape and style, and without a lot of hardware which gives it an understated elegance.

Oh you definitely need to get one, great bag!

I love the winged shape of the Selma also. It is what drew me to MK and when I got my first, the Jeweled Fuchsia Selma, I was over the moon! You can't stop at just one :)

I own three Selma bags and I am thinking about buying a Sutton next. Is it possible to remove the MK charm from the bag? I find it a bit tacky, so although I like the bag I would like to remove it.

That is interesting that some members don't like the charm. I would not like the charm on the Selma but feel it adds something to the Sutton. I enjoy hearing about other people's thoughts on these things even when they are different than mine :) That is what is makes this forum so engaging

I have a center stripe tri-color Sutton, so the added charm is a bit much.

I prefer the selma but selmas can look a little blah in darker colors, I think a dark bag needs a little hardware or bling to keep it from looking so plain. I think I might add an mk charm to my selma from time to time. Its a quilted in claret and does not really need it but I like the mk charms. I add charms to all my bags anyway cause I'm a little cray-cray. On a recent trip I had a hello kitty charm on my lv gm neverfull in damier even though I own like 5 overpriced lv charms, hello kitty is way cuter. Told you I'm crazy.....

My favorite is selma I have one Sutton I haven't used yet a sapphire one but almost scared to use it since the strap is such an issue because I always use the strap on my purses and I wouldn't hold it the other way

I like selma best. I have bought three suttons and 1 I returned, 1 Im giving to my mother for her b-day and the other I will probably return, just on the fence b/c its a beautiful scarlet color.
