Seeking Advice on a classic black "doctor bag" satchel

Thank you so much for this post! I'm now fully convinced that I don't need the speedy which I always wondered about getting.

Things I don't like about the Speedy B:
- The zip opening is small and annoying to get into, considering the size of the bag.
- There are no usable pockets (the internal pocket is too small to be good for much). The Rogue Satchel's big exterior side pocket is great!
- It's a little -too- saggy and structureless. (I have a 30)

It is lightweight though, so it's a good option for travel or for those who can't carry much weight due to shoulder/back problems.

Ah you're amazing! Thank you again for sharing the extra information. I love exterior pockets! This is why I can't buy any Kelsey bags. I did travel with the black Rogue satchel once and it did get heavy but I put a lot of things that I normally don't carry in it. I didn't have the wide rexy strap then and I'm going to use with bag from now on.

I love my new Arayla Nightingale “doctor” bag in black butter leather. It is incredibly light, the leather quality is top notch. The price is exfremely reasonable and the bag is made here in the good old USA. You can also get it in a metallic black if you do not like the matte finish. However, after using it for a while the black leather develops a nice “sheen.”
Check it out at http://www.arayla.com
I second this......I love my Nightingale. I have one in pewter that is just gorgeous. It also comes with a crossbody strap! And as southernbell43 stated....it is really lightweight!

I have a Coach Ace Satchel, but they're no longer offered. It's a 1941 line bag, so it has minimal branding, which I like.

I like the Speedy B25 in black empreinte as well, but I'll admire it from afar since I already have a black bag with a similar shape.

Thanks to this thread, I just brought down my Ace and moved into her. I haven't worn her since last spring; nothing like taking out a bag and falling in love all over again. I lost a foot at some point; it's unlikely, but I'll have to see if Coach has a replacement.
Is yours green? Sorry about the last foot. I hope Coach can fix that for you.

My bag wardrobe lacks a basic, classic bag for formal business events, funerals, etc.

I really like the LV Empreinte (spelling?) Speedy, but I don't really need to pay extra for the name, since I am more interested in quality, finish and elegance, than I am in a brand.

That said, I found this Hulme satchel for comparison:

Are there others in this category I should look at? brands? model names? Thanks!
The LV empreinte speedy is a bit high in price , I agree . But did you consider the LV speedy b 25 in Epi Noir ?
Epi leather holds up amazing ! And its fairly lightweight for a leather bag with suede lining . Its such an elegant piece and understated . I see people have mentioned the Coach Rogue satchel . I personally would stay away . This bag is a ton of bricks empty . It also does not retain its shape very well . If you decide to arm carry , the handles are not very comfortable and because of the weight , did terribly into the crook of arm . GL with your decision .
