My e-ring is an estate piece; I loved it at first sight. It was a great price for the size and clarity. Hubby's band cost more than my e-ring!

The only bad part with unique pieces is that there's no backup if your man drags his feet! :crybaby:

i bought a ring that is 18k 4 diamonds 2 princess and 2 round. totalling a carat for $350.00 on ebay.

Its my ultimate favorite ring. and I had it appraised at $2500.00

One stone is worth about what I paid for the whole ring.

I would if it's a piece I like. I am not too into jewelry as much as shoes and bags that is.
But I have a gf that bought a chopard jewelry watch from a pawn shop in vegas while she was vacationing for 5k and that watch is worth 35k when she appraised it.

Portero.com has lots of second hand high end jewelry that I love. I have not purchased anything from them mostly because I rarely purchase fine jewelry for myself but I've been tempted and certainly may do so I see a TDF piece. Check them ut and let me know what you all think. They also sell high end shoes and purses.

Jenna, I see them from time to time through Estate buys but man they sell fast.

You can find them often on eBay or call local Jewelers, Pawn shops or Estate Buyers in your area. You can have them call you if they get them in. Also check high-end internet Jewelry companies (Gray & Sons, Signed Pieces, Belle Roche) that specialize in designer brand jewelry.

Thank you for your reply I will look around.

Hi Jenna51580, I bought mine from a reputable pawn shop in Japan. Japan is a great place for second hand designer merchandise as the goods are generally authentic and in pristine condition. Do scout around your area for shops as suggested by Japster.

Thanks Japster for the info. I feel good saving money and saving the environment at the same time :)

If I ever make it to Japan I will definitely look but right now I live in Athens, Greece.

I do it with clothes, so why not jewelry? As long as I'm sure about what I'm getting, I'm happy.
My most recent purchase was a faux pearl necklace at a thrift store. It was priced at $2 but the string broke as the woman was ringing me up. We hunted down the little suckers (all 31 of them!) and she asked me if I still wanted it. I do a lot of beading and helped to restring and HAND KNOT* my grandma's pearl necklace, so I said sure. So she gave it to me for free. I restrung it that day and wore it to prom the following weekend.
So I have yet to buy a fancy piece of second hand jewelry, but I probably will.

*Hand knotting pearls will make you go crazy. Seriously.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy second hand - some of the best pieces are older pieces that you cannot find new or near new. Also considering that most jewelery can be refinished and polished, you can never tell that it is second hand.

Some of the best jewelry on the planet is vintage or antique and isn't even made anymore. I've been collecting vintage Mexican and Danish silver for a long time, and these are some of the most beautiful and unique pieces! And one of the coolest advantages of wearing this stuff is that you are not going to see it on everyone else! You can create your own personal "brand"!!
And... if you still want the more contemporary items, I agree that sites like ebay and Portero have fantastic selections of very current jewelry for which you can often find amazing deals. Some of my faves are Yurman and Judith Ripka. Go for it - - there is nothing tacky about Second Hand!!! As a matter of fact, it's a really smart way to go if you do your homework and know what to look for!:winkiss:
