But why now?

They got what they needed, put up with all the misery and cra*p and now decided they're suing or reporting him to the authorities?

What was the impetus?

With all the evidence it's more likely to have a successful case. A lot of folks can't afford the years of litigation and investigating, but if the Feds/authorities have all the evidence, then it's probably easier for the individuals involved to get justice. Or maybe they knew no one would believe them over a powerful celeb and now people will. I don't blame victims one bit for how or why or when, or if they choose to go after their assailant.

Have you ever worked anywhere?
Personally, I was sexually harassed so many times, I lost track.
Because, I am a bit financially privileged, I was able to leave the jobs.
It is not the case for everyone. Some women simply do not have any financial cushion.
Plus some of the perpetrators are so powerful, they can get their victims blackballed from an entire industry. Ie diddy
What do you suppose they do?
Call HR?
One time, my supervisor just grabbed my posterior out of nowhere?
Was it my fault?
It is not black and white and can be a very isolating experience, especially when others believe that they brought it on themselves.
Just my two cents.
Look what Sean had the audacity to ask of a friend relative who interned with him.

It can be a part of the process of surviving. The first step is self-preservation. Figuring out how to survive what you're going through, and get out. Once you've made yourself safe, the next step can be taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. Look at the way we've treated some victims through history - it's a scary, privacy invading endeavor. Once one person is brave enough to say it's happened, others feel safety in numbers, and sometimes an obligation to back up the story of the first person who was brave enough to say it.

Exactly.
Plus Cassie was very young when this took place, not even 18.
He promised her the moon and little by little, she was way over her head.
Why is it so hard to believe that an older, powerful person can subjugate a younger person?
