I am running super behind on this thread because I was out of town all weekend. No prayer of catching up, but it looks like Feather week is off to a super start!

Thursday wearing Le Monde est Vast. The deep grays of Le Monde went really well with my long cardigan, as well as with the etoupe Bolide.

I spent the weekend in Louisiana, which I wrote about at length here. A little Scarf on Site action with Aux Pays du Epices

I usually don't nickname my things, but this is one exception. I call it my "gumbo" scarf, because it's the perfect color for roux. Here's me having a bowl of gumbo while wearing "gumbo" in Lake Charles last week. (And mercifully didn't get any gumbo on gumbo!!!!)

I love this model very Nice...

He's evidently from Ottoman empire embroidery typical of the Greek island of Skyros:

Hoopoe; detail of embroidered hem of a bridal sheet, from Skyros, a Sporades island. The hoopoe, or rather the cockerel, appears in several versions in neo-Hellenic art and possesses an apotropaic-talismanic symbolism, beyond which lies a wish for fertility but also for the fighting strength that might protect it. Late 18th-early 19th c. (ΓΕ 6381)
Below the embroidery, a modern-day hoopoe:

AHA! It is a glam turkey!!!! I know them when I see them!!!

I am glad you researched this ABQ2ATL. Someone a while back posted a picture of some pottery or decoration with this motif and wrote a bit about the history so I knew it was an exotic design but I couldn't begin to dig thru the threads to find that post. And your post has new info!

I was inspired by MYH's posts of mousselines on her thread, but I decided I would save my one and only mousse for feather week:

Mythiques Phoenix

Thank you for sharing your great pics TangoTosca! The soup looks really hot and spicy!

Hi momasaurus! I just remembered I didn't delete a pic I took from when I tried on my new Royal Mews. So here's a modeling pic!:

Pretty, Pirula!

I don't have a lot with non-bird feathers but this one is loaded with them and is not a pattern I have seen much on here (although I know Croisette has it in a different colorway!)

Some of you have seen me wearing this Panache et Fantaisie but I don't think I've ever shown the full flat pic. Feathers galore.

BJS, yes you are right. It's a beautiful vintage!

Here are some pictures of Le Fil d'Ariane and Tyger Tyger lying flat that I promised Pirula and eagle1002us respectively. Sorry about the wrinkles in material, I had to prop them up slightly to get most of the scarf in the picture and they’ve been knotted many times over.

Amazing!

Beautiful feathers all around.
Bostonjetset, your scarf is a beauty, especially in these colors and I adore all the horse vignettes.
Lanit, what a plethora of cool feathers. The jacquard Daimyo is spectacular.
Croisette, plumes is most charming and a design I have only recently come to appreciate so much ( thanks to your postings).
TangoTosca, I love your look with La Monde but all ensembles are great. Cool boots, too.
Pirula, you have outdone yourself with all these spectacular scarves and knots.
If I missed anybody I am sorry.

Maedi thank you! I love all Plumes.

Very chic and elegant

Thank you, chris!

More - Daimyo, blue and black

Love all your contributions, lanit!

Feathered friends galore on my bateaux du monde. Love the etchings on the border and the shells remind me of sieste Au paradis. Added the obligatory modeling shot thanks to tutorial from tangotosca.

Twins on that, perfumegirl!

Gorgeous Brazil. You have the bestest collection ever. I bet the H silk drawers pale in comparison to your closet

Oh, thank you so much dear!:hugs:

It looks so elegant! We all need one or two of these "grown-up" scarves, right? This is great.

Thank you momasaurus! It's funny you should mention this. This is the first traditional H design I've really fallen for (unless Coup de Fouet counts, but I see that one as more modern). I was concerned it would be "old fashioned" or "matronly" which I am learning at my age (52 almost) that I need to start thinking about. So, I was playing with it and I don't think it's matronly at all! I may have it wrong there. Anyway, I'm glad you like it as I do too and I look forward to playing with it. And you never look matronly so that is a vote of confidence right there!

Wowww, these are really beautiful! The pink one is to die! I love how you've styled it in your sweater. Does it stay?

Kyokei I love it! Thanks so much for showing it. I am really digging the whole maze thing. I generally don't go for geometrics, so when I see one I like, I take note!

And you know how I feel about that Tyger. Wearing mine today! ;)

Pirula I love this and am pinteresting this since I've reached my scarf buying quota this year. January 2016 here I come!

All gorgeous!

I bet it looks fab on you BJS!

I'm on my phone so quoting is a real pain- but TangoTosca, perfumgirl, Pirula and everyone- you look wonderful! Lovin all the feathers! I would faint to have a MP moussie like TangoTosca!

Two great, well-loved scarves. I know d'Ariane ties beautifully and isn't that cw of Tyger so mysterious? Love it.

You're right. Classic H.

Classic H x2.

That's the best colorway by far. Nobody does a border like Aline Honoré can. Such a great design and I'm glad you gave the knot a shot :smile1:

ahh... aaahhhh... AAAAAAHHHHHH..... CHOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Sniff!
All those darn feathers were tickling my nose! :D

Thank you all for your sweet compliments!

perfumegirl: when the time arrives to shop again, you'll have no trouble finding them resale on eBay. They're also comparatively inexpensive! The black was my favorite, but there's also a lovely one in navy, and one in red which is the one the Queen has!

Pirula, I did not mean matronly at all, especially with your hip look and with your other scarves (which I would definitely call modern). I meant traditional H: the colors, the scroll stuff.

Yes darling momasaurus I know! Sorry if I confused. I am agreeing with you! :smile1: It was only a concern until I received it.

So, I finally have a scarf with some gold in it! Have I arrived??
