Hello and good morning,
Strangely, or perhaps not so, I don't have any scarves neither by d'Origny nor by Pierre Marie. I made a bid on a Maison des Carrés once but was overbid and didn't take it any further. Perhaps I will show one or two of my "neglected scarves" this week instead. But first I wanted to indicate something perhaps interesting regarding my Academia Hippica. There seem to be not only allusions to several artists in this scarf (the Story Behind mentions da Vinci, Hokusai and Arcimboldo, but I also see Calder, Matisse and René Magritte). It also seems to have cross references to other H scarves, such as Rocobar de Rire, Le premier Chant and Maison des Carrés. There are perhaps more, I really would like to have a "key" to its secrets!View attachment 6219002View attachment 6219003View attachment 6219004
Must not be tempted!
I love the H scarf designs which slyly/subtly/obviously make reference to other scarves. We should have a theme on scarves within scarves!
On my wishlist! I've been tempted by some later reiterations of Mors et Gourmettes but my credit card keeps saying :tdown::blah:

I wasn’t even trying to get the 🐈‍⬛ in the photo this time, but here we are. I was trying (and failing) to capture these scarlet runner beans in the shot. I’m going to keep planting these every year from here on out, because the hummingbirds adore them! I almost had one buzz into the frame of the Zoom meeting I was holding on the back deck. 🐦 😆 IMG_2009.webpIMG_2014.webp

Hello everyone! Please excuse the generic "love everything" as DH and I are awaiting our car to the airport for a late summer trip abroad. Thank you @turfnsurf for a marvelous week of the C et C and thank you @xincinsin for tackling these two prolific designers. I will be computer liberated on these next ten days and cell phone only ( a challenge for this Luddite) so I wanted to get one last post on board before we leave. Just sharing some archive photos of faves in my collex from these two lovely artists:

Wish you all a perfect evening!!
What a fun adventure and fabulous scarf.

There are quite a number of Hermes scarves which reference other scarves or H creations. Sometimes, the scarf features a motif which comes from another scarf or has an embroidered patch or patches cut from another scarf.

In 2013, there was a limited edition H x Comme des Garcons collaboration. H issued a set of scarves with Rei Kawakubo's distinctive touch added. One of these scarves was a ginormous Patch Geant with 7 scarves stitched together to form a huge square. One of the 7 scarves was Henri d'Origny's Cavalcadour. That's the swirly patterned scarf in the lower left patch made from 4 gavs. At 1.8m square, it is huuuuuge! An impulse buy that I spotted on the instant sale page of a Hongkong auction house. I'm not sure how to use it due to the size. The picture below is the H stock image because it's just too large to take a good flat photo. Perhaps later this week, I'll try to drape myself in it

At 90cm square, Cavalcadour Clair de Lune is much more manageable. It comes with a fantastical back story of the special technique which H claims was used in the production. There is a thread dedicated to it.

The cw is very dark so you can only see the Cavalcadour design if you angle it against the light. Why did I buy it? I guess I like the fantastical tale of how mud silk is created (although I totally researched the prosaic reality too  ) as well as the "now you see it, now you don't" lenticular image. And, uhm, it reminds me of really yummy dark chocolate

One of my weaknesses is "unusual scarves" (see above :sweatdrop:). Another weakness of mine is indecision. Pierre Marie's Maison des Carres was a love at first sight design. It reminded me of dollhouses. I eyed and eyed the hot pink cw that was in the window of my home H, but there were other cws which I liked too. So I hesitated and deliberated and pondered ... all the way till it was no longer in stock :crybaby: I bought the gav in the end, and I think I'm quite content with it.

Worn here with Bolduc. There are teeny scarves in many of the rooms, on the roof, outdoors ... and look! In this next picture, the artist seated with a scarf in the lower right corner is working on a swirly design that just might be a d'Origny!
