Wonderful description of the cowboy life & Charlie Russell paintings (& his bronzes) and the continuing saga of "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Such clever development of a story line. As a collector of Western paintings & bronzes myself, (my family room is in Western decor & includes a framed Kermit Oliver Les Cheyennes - but that's an Hermes aside) your DH's painting is a true gem. Lucky girl.

Thank you for your kind comments.

When DH and I were first married, we visited the Cody Museum (Google tells me it is the Whitney Western Art Museum in Cody, Wyoming) and I adored the Western paintings and bronzes. Lucky you to have some bronzes. They are magnificent. Our budget didn’t allow it at the time, or I would have gotten a bronze that day. We do have a collection of Inuit soapstone carvings which I treasure.

The family always called this painting “the cowboy painting” done by a real cowboy. The execution looks primitive, but as I studied it I realized that the figures and arrangement were quite sophisticated. I wondered if our old cowboy had copied it out of Life magazine, or something? A quick Google search on paintings of cowboys roping cattle brought up a number of Charles Russell paintings and I immediately recognized the style as his. It took another five minutes of searching to come up with the correct work. I’m sure, given Russell’s popularity, that FIL knew what it was.

Oh my! I hope the kitties adjust soon. Neighbour's Cat used to meow into my face at 3am to request (demand) snacks which I blearily provided while reminding her that we are not a kitty B&B.
 "Kitty B&B" "Scarf Goblin" memorable @xincinsin phrases...
Where to begin? One of my favorites of yours is Monte Carlo! I love the way you tied your Carpe Diem, as well and the Poste et Cavalerie with that brooch is perfection, @Croisette7 ...
How beautiful @Tasha1 -- I love this design in CSGM.
Oddly I have not one Metz scarf! Great to see yours @Croisette7 ! do have this very cool Julia Abadie Arc en Ciel in cotton. My facorite travel scarf and I do so love archery.

This is so charming and I can see it wold be the perfect travel scarf. Near my home there used to be a summer camp and every time I passed it I saw the archery set up on a rollong hill and the children lined up ready to let their arrows fly. Wonderful scarf @lanit!
Twins on this! Looks beautiful with your blue sweater and bag!
As a polka dot lover, I can't fail but smile at this @lanit!

My scarves this week serve to illustrate the song Ghost Riders in the Sky, written by Stan Jones. Jones stated that he had been told the story when he was 12 years old by an old Native American who lived in Arizona. The Native Americans believed that when souls vacate their physical bodies, they reside as spirits in the sky, resembling ghost riders.

I'm picturing the people who lived in the Grand Canyon looking at the stars for the souls in the skies.

The bandana Les Canyons Etoiles features views of the Grand Canyon along its four edges and the stars in the center. From the canyons to the stars, wherein reside our ghost riders.

A lovely and poignant illustration as your story continues. That photo of the GC is a stunner, RBH.

What a completely FANTASTIC week it has been! The scarfies really pulled out all the stops on story time!

BRAVO everyone!!!!

Of course, it's still a little early for Sunday where I am, so I will finish this week off for myself with one last scary tale....

It's 1:53 AM, and I am still awake, waiting for the dreaded TIME to arrive....the dreaded FALL BACK, that so many people love, and I hate. Why??? Why do we do it??? :crybaby: (I hate both time changes to be brutally honest. They mess me up for weeks....)

But while everyone GAINS an extra hour, I do not.... Nope, I don't. Because, for the cats, 7 or 8 AM (feeding time) will now be 6 or 7 AM, and outside potty time will not be 4:30 or 5 AM but 3:30 or 4, until I can work them forward...Their body knows the time, not the clock! So I expect I will be passed out around my usual time to post in the morning. So I am doing it early (...erm...late... )

Now onwards for me. (But feel free to share some more stories too if you like...)

And now, my Twilight Zone is complete. I started at 1:53 and now it is 1:08....
All are amazing @bunnycat and such a fun and witty intro as well (thank you for expanding the theme!). Congratulations on your new Panoplie-- it is a real beauty and perfect on you.

Today is All Saints Day and, while not exactly ghostly, the architectural ornamented ceilings of cathedrals, temples, synagogues and other magnificent houses of worship were specifically designed to uplift the spirit and transport the faithful beyond the quotidian into a vast celestial infinitude. When I was an art history student in Europe, we loved to lie flat on our backs staring up and let ourselves experience that cosmic vertigo. So here to honor the saints and the ceilings is Les Domes Celestes. I was very intrigued to learn that many of the domes Faivre rendered are actual places-- including several I have been to in France and Italy and most recently, the Great Synagogue in Budapest.

What a fabulous scarf and such an interesting comment, LKB. I love cathedrals and places of worship. I feel calm and joy whenever I visit them.

I'm afraid I'm all storied out, and back to straight forward... But I will share some pics from last night from Haunted House of Bunnycat...

Usually MrBC is lecturing or grading tests or something equally saintly, but since the 31st fell on a Sunday, I wrangled myself a helper for the evening.

Both of us donned spiders on our necks to up the "scary" factor. He sported a witchy hat and suffered a big furry tarantula tied around the neck, while I opted for the silk version with Flamboyant Web and a Sugar Skulll mask. This one now has Bunny's name on the forehead, since she left us last Halloween.

Very pretty tie and so happy to be your twin @labelo!
Thank you.
Dreamy triangle shawl, shoes and landscape.
Thank you so much @Maedi-- I now have one foot on each of the ban islands for scarfs and shoes, but I love them!

Really fascinating posts all week @Redbirdhermes and loved learning about this artist and your painting! Really fantastic pairings as you unwound your week-long tale!
