No leaping creatures, only me, somersaulting with joy at having arrived home to find a package with my new and oh-so-very-beautiful Au Bout du Monde. Thank you so very much for the enablement from @Cookiefiend and @Redbirdhermes. I think, most recently, @Foxy trini and I were on the very same hunt for this and lucky for us we each found our prize. Way too thrilled to even do a proper mod shot-- just had to share my silky delight...

One of the best Hermes designs! Congratulations!

:faint: oh my. what an amazing find and also for foxy too. Wow! When you get a chance can you snap a pic of your cw flat? I have been on the search for Redbirds colors but this also looks amazing! :faint:
Here it is flat--I also love the story behind the design and the fact that a particular cw (not this one) was issued to support an anti-addiction charity in Great Britain. But my research was sparked by seeing it here on Cookiefiend and then Redbird. The Librain site has all the cws in one of her posts. I was absolutely sure I only wanted 04, but I kept getting pulled by this 09...and finally it--and my wallet-- came to some H math agreement...

Kachinas is another Kermit Oliver scarf that illustrates the Kachina doll tradition of the Hopis. The design features a vast array of Kachina dolls displayed on what seems to be a Native American blanket. The blanket surface is aleo strewn with colorful bows and ceremonial gourds with flowers and corn. Kachinas are the ancestral spirits of the Southwest Pueblo people, specifically the Hopi and Zuni tribes. According to Pueblo Mythology, a Kachina is a deified ancestral spirit or a person who represents such a spirit in ceremonial dances. They are benevolent spirits that visit villagers and live among them for seven months of the year. They come bearing gifts and join in the tribal ceremonies with their dances and songs
I haven't read what the artist himself has said about the imagery, but let me address this reading of the imagery. "Kachinas" is a tricky word because it refers to gods, human dancers in the guise of those gods during ritual, and dolls. In the Oliver design the Kachinas look like dancers versus dolls. They're shown in movement, with naturalistic (plausible) limbs and the ability to hold objects, just as dancers are, while Kachina dolls originally and for most of their existence were abstract and static, not made to look like they were in movement.
One of my fave designs.

Also, the background to the figures wouldn't be alluding to a blanket (a Navajo form that isn't radial, or bordered) but more likely an abstraction of a sand painting.

The moussie of this design is just stunning!! These swirling colors are perfection

wow! Amazing find in such condition. Those cats really are amazing. And on such a light pink. Purrrfect

Oh my! That is stunning just like Pirulas.

Thank you kindly!

Early America, this issue with squirrels in the center, other kitty leapers, dogs and ponies, too. I seriously tried to wear it as my SOTD but it proved to be still too hot today---ugh. Quick photo before it went back in the drawer. I do kind of like this easy scarf ring tie...

Gorgeous! One of my favorite designs for sure. I’d love to add another colorway, at the right time, of course. Just beautiful on you. And, remember, there are fish in that water, and fish can leap.

Screaming!!! Love that you found one Nola, and I especially love that we are twins. This looks so pretty even just draped like this. Congratulations!
