Hey all so I brought my 5 stone ring, 1.25tcw and I love it!
However I'm slightly scared to wear it.
I work in research so I spend some time in the lab where I'm handling chemicals and solvent. Now I always wear gloves so the ring will be protected, I'm just concerned about taking gloves on and off and washing hands constantly. I'm feeling a bit down about it as I wanted it as an everyday right hand ring.

I would not wear it to work, frankly, even with gloves, since you're dealing with chemicals and solvent. You can wear it when you're out of the lab.

What, if anything, have you been wearing?

I agree with Ame; I wouldn't wear it to work.

Iv been wearing mostly plain gold rings (22k) one which has a sapphire and one just plain gold.
Iv had these for yearss and been wearing them all the time. Nothing has happened to them (hopefully nothing will) but they don't have diamonds in them.

I probably won't wear them on the lab. Better safe than sorry I guess

The biggest concern I have is actually not so much the diamonds, it's the white gold. Since we're not really sure what this company has alloyed to make that 18K blend, you have no idea what reaction those chemicals will have on the metal. Not a LOT of chemicals will do tremendous harm to diamonds, and most won't affect platinum really either. But there's a lot of wiggle with 18K and with white gold, so there's no reason to risk it.

I have an 18wg band, 3mm... I wore it to clean my bathrooms.. Stupid
The chemicals in Clorox wipes changed the color and I had to have it dipped or whatever they do at my jeweler to fix it.. I never wear my rings to clean anymore.

Is it too late to have them recraft it in platinum? Didn't they have a return window? Perhaps they can take it back and either remake one in Plat or remake it with these stones in plat for a small upcharge. I still wouldn't wear it in a lab, anyway, but that's me.

Yeah I think I'm going to leave it in white gold and just avoid it in the lab. Because I'm still going to worry with the platinum. Don't want to loosen the prongs by taking gloves on and off

Sorry to hear you can't wear your new baby all the time... I know in a couple years once I start working in a clinical setting I won't be able to wear my Love bracelet anymore... or even nail polish :( So I sympathize!

If I had only known id love jewelry so much, Id chosen a different career path :p hehehe

Diamonds are meant to be worn!!! Wear it to work in the am and then put it on a necklace during the day like Carrie Bradshaw. Then after work put it back on your finger. Life is too short to not wear pieces that make you happy.

So today was the first time I wore my ring to work and it was so nice to see it sparkle is every lighting, I wore it today was I was only in the lab for half an hour and the rest was meetings so I didn't have to worry that much about gloves however I was nervous wearing it as my fingers shrink in the cold so my ring was turning a lot.
Il continue to wear my rings or days with minimal lab work.
