Hi again, lol it's like our little chat here, no one else is chiming in lol.
So I've decided (as if I'm buying it tomorrow and not in March 2013 lol) that I'm going to go for the bvlgari bvlgari watch with black face. It's a quartz watch. I'm also going to try to hunt down the bvlgari onyx disc bracelet to wear next to it. Those are so hard to find. As for the two tone watch, I have no idea which I'll go for. I like the H-hour but don't love the idea of a leather band bec. I'd be nervous every time I got near water and I wash my hands a lot and my kids hands. I looked at the H clipper style but it's hard to find in lovely condition. I entertain getting the two tone Ebel but it has that early 90's look to it. I really have no idea what I'll get for a two tone or if I even like any other two tone than the Cartier santos galbee.
I talked to my dad today about automatic watches bec. he wears a self winding Rado. He says he keeps it in the winder which he got for $30 and it's held up great. He said that he services his watch every so often for $200, he said like every 4-5 yrs. it needs it. He was trying to encourage me to still go for the automatic thinking that's what I prefer. The truth is I really love that SS black face bvlgari so I'm not heartbroken but they are hard to find pre-owned, only the vintage ones seem to turn up on the second hand market. I feel relieved to learn this now about the automatic watches running slowly, that is something that would def. bother me, plus the aspect of needing to service it and make sure it's lubricated. It seems like a headache. My quartz movado has held up so well, it would burn me to get a more expensive watch than the one I'm wearing and have it be so temperamental. My watch really runs great, I've only had to change the battery a handful of times in the 6 yrs. I'm wearing it and never had any issues with it, and I've dropped it on the floor and banged it into my washing machine unloading the wash. I am bored stiff of it though, it just does not excite me at all lol.
Well keep me posted with what you decide. It sounds like you're still on track for the galbee then? Are you going for the SS version or the two tone? What do you think of design house watches like Gucci? I was thinking of an all gold tone gucci for the times I need a watch to go with my yellow gold jewelry. Part of me likes the look, it's a little 80's, in fact the model I like is vintage 90's. And part of me wants to slap some sense into me and says you know you'll regret it and be like what were you thinking lol. I read on this board that someone said that Baume & Mercier is a pseudo luxury brand and I also read an article online about that topic. I know B&M borrows a lot from Cartier's styling, that's the only thing that bugs me about it. The Hampton, which is the style I like, borrows from the tank look. Anyway, I just can't make up my mind on what two tone style I like or if I like it at all, part of me really doesn't like the two metals together. I thought it worked on the cartier santos and don't love it really on any other design. *sigh*
