I'm noticing that some of my stud earrings tend to point downwards (or look like it's falling out). The holes themselves are not stretched-looking, but I have petite, attached earlobes that are not fleshy (there's not much to hold the earring up). I've noticed the problem happening with 3-dimensional stud earrings, but it seems to have nothing to do with the earring weight. I notice it even when wearing modest 7-8mm pearl studs that weigh next to nothing compared with my diamond studs, for example. The diamond studs have a screw-on back, so I can tighten them to sit correctly, at least.

Here's the question. I just bought a pair of chunky/bulbous stud earrings (just for fun), but unless I put one of those plastic disc support backs on it, the earring starts to point downwards after about 5 minutes. With the big plastic back, I have to orient them on my lobes to "sit" correctly. Each earring weighs about 3g (compared to 1g for the pearl).

My question is whether wearing the big plastic support backs is enough to keep the problem from getting worse over time? Or am I kidding myself that I'm not doing myself more harm, albeit slowly? These new earrings were expensive enough that I don't want to keep them if I can't wear and enjoy them--if I keep them, I'd want to wear them more often than just for special occasions. Any thoughts?

EDITED to note that I'd rather not use tape-supports on my lobes--I know I'd be too lazy to use them. The big plastic disc backs are as much as I'd do.

Have you used these, personally? I've read some reviews (some unfavorable) but so far I haven't found anything to address my question of whether relying on earring supports would make things worse over the long run. It looks like they would put some pressure on the lobes that otherwise wouldn't be there (like the plastic discs do).
My sister uses these and has without any problems for a while now. She absolutely swears by them. They offer a guarantee...you can easily return and they will pay for your return they are so sure you will love them. Buy them posthaste! LOL!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I just ordered some Levears and Honora Happy Backs, and I'll see if they work for me. Because my earlobes are so small and are the "attached" type, I'm concerned that the hefty backs will be obvious from the front. We'll see!

Please let us your reviews of the two.

I have the same issue. My honora happy backs show from the front, but my jumbo backs don't.

I'll keep everyone posted when they arrive and I can compare them.

Oh, no--I hope I can get these to work! My jumbo backs don't show but with this particular pair of new earrings, they don't give enough support. It could be that these earrings have to go back....
