I haven't bought a Coach bag in a LONG time, but I'm really liking both the saddle bag (the medium sized one with the slip pocket on the back) and the Rogue. Which would you recommend and why?

I had the same dilemma as you. :D Do you prefer an edgier bag or a very classic style?

Something about the Rogue just seemed more luxurious to me. Maybe those beautifully-formed handles and suede interior. I also found that opening/closing the flap on the Saddle Bag was a bit annoying, because of the way the strap attaches to either side. It always catches.

I bought the saddle bag yesterday (on a total whim) but am going to look at the Rogue right now. I think I'll like the Rogue better - we'll see! Would love to hear what you ladies think!

I love the rouge. It's awesome! That would be my vote, but you can't go wrong with either.
My local store only had one 25 left in the saddle color, which is the color I wanted, so I went ahead and got it. I'll probably take the saddle bag back since I really don't need to keep both. I looked at the next biggest size in the Rogue, but all of my stuff will fit fine in the 25 and it will be lighter that the bigger one. I plan to carry it by the longer handles, with the shorter ones tucked in. What a gorgeous, quality bag. It should be for what they're charging for it!

Totally agree with this - I found the strap to be in the way of the flap all the time. And the flap itself is large and a little cumbersome for me to get in and out of the bag quickly.

I bought a coach 23 saddle bag (well, two, but still debating if i should keep both or just one) but have not used it yet. I haven't seen any reviews on the handle being in the way of the flap - though I did notice that in the design and when I first held it, and thought it may be an issue. But since no one has been talking about it, I thought maybe not an issue then.

Is it that much in the way/annoying?

I would go with the Rogue! I like the fact that it has suede pockets so it's feels kind lux. Plus I would get the big one. I like the 25 but it was just too small for everyday use. But the big one is awesome!

It gets in the way the most when you double the strap and wear on shoulder. I don't have much problem with the flap when I wear it crossbody. Also as you use the bag the stiffness turns into buttery softness and it kind of molds to you. I have 4 of the 23's and its my go to bag on the weekends.

I am not a huge fan of flap closure bags. I have two- Patricia's Legacy in colorblock and an Archival Rambler. Both look beautiful, but I don't use them that often because of the flap opening. I vote for Rogue because of the zipper closure and I like the wearable versatility of it. I purchased the Rogue satchel myself in the sale, and am looking forward to getting it!

I had never bought a coach bag before, let alone such an expensive bag before I bought my Rogue. I cannot say enough good things about it, it is fantastic. You can wear it as a crossbody, shoulder, or arm bag. I love that I can tuck in the arm handles if I don't need them. It has sooooo much room for everything and I like that it has the zip top so I can grab my bag if it's behind my seat without all my stuff falling out. I can also throw things in the side if I don't feel like unzipping the main part. I usually swap in and out between bags all the time and I keep finding myself coming back to the Rogue each time. I also feel like it is something you can easily dress up or dress down. If I wasn't saving for an LV speedy I would definitely get another one in the smaller size in case I felt like bringing less.

Thank you for starting this post and for everyone contributing their opinions. I had the same dilemma and my question was buried in the coach 1941 thread and was still trying to decide between the two as well

I found the pebbled leather of the whiplash saddle bag was much easier to open because the leather is softer....but some have said that the regular saddle bag softens up with use and makes it easier to open.

They are such different bags it's kind of hard to say which would be better for you. If you prefer crossbody bags, I would say a saddle bag because connecting the strap of the Rogue and using them crossbody is not very comfortable. Plus, there is the weight to consider. Medium size Rogues are heavy before adding your stuff. If you like to arm and\or shoulder carry, then you might prefer the Rogue. I have each bag (whiplash saddle bag, Rogue 25 and regular size Rogue) and they all have their uses at different times. If I could only keep one, I'd have a hard time choosing in between my saddle bag and the rogue 25. (the larger rogue would be a goner)

The saddlebag, IMO is a more classic look, and the choice if you want to go cross body.
The rogue seems to be the better choice if you want to have the option of carrying on the shoulder or in your hand - the saddlebag doesn't give you that choice. Also, I think the rogue, while classy, is a more modern look. And maybe you can fit more in the rogue.
I vote rogue!!
