I asked her again for the real reason and she did not know to answer the question...
First thought I'd give a copy but then I thought it made no sense what she was telling me. After I have been receiving multiple calls from her, about 3-5 times everyday (while working and could not answer the phone) even I told her I would take my ID there personally, she still continues... This situation is bothering me a little bit. Please if there is anyone who has been asked for a copy of her ID, tell me.

Oh so you paid cash. That explains it. Any transaction involving a cash payment of 10k or more is within the scope of a government rule regarding anti-money laundering. This practice is not uncommon. If you travel, in customs declaration, it asks whether you are in possession of cash more than 10k. Same thing with buying a brand new car from a dealership etc. This 10k cash rule calls for government intervention thus the ID. The legitimacy/ illegitimacy of the source of the fund alerts them whether it's corrupt money or terrorist funded etc.

Don't worry too much, Hermes has nothing to do with it.

No, I didn't pay the bag in cash, only a small amount. Most was by bank transfer. Also I bought the bag in my country, I was identified in the bank but I didn't know I should also give my ID to Hermes :shrugs:

3-5 calls everyday?! 100% go and talk to the Manager or Director of the store! This is highly unusual.

I think is that hermes' new policy limit one person can only buy a limited amount of b and k in a year, that's why.
But never give them your id over the phone

Right now I'm thinking that if I return the call, I get a good scolding from her. She will ask me again for my ID and I don't really know what I will do.

Do NOT feel like that.

There is no sales associate - Hermes or not - on this earth that has the right to do that to you/anyone.
Give yourself a good talking to, and go and speak/ring the store and clarify the situation.

I would totally ignore this request.

If they need your id for an official/legal reason they will write you a formal and polite letter with a written reason why. (because that will cover them in case they can't show it to authorities)
If it's only a corporate reason or any kind of mysterious reason, they will just have to stop asking.

And when you like to shop from that store, go there with a large smile on your face and behave as nothing never happened.
